Nerves

This weekend I was pretty relaxed about the trip.  Two reasons: one, that there was very little planning that we need to do.  Just three and a half cities really - Macau, Nagasaki, Shanghai and the half day for Hong Kong.  Two, we had a long weekend, which meant three whole days to sort things out and pack.

Normally I travel quite light.  I usually have a good cubic foot of spare space in my suitcase by the time everything squashes down.  This gives me plenty of room to pick up souvenirs along the way.  But this time we had to bring an entire extra wardrobe along due to the dress code on the Queen Mary 2.  I've spent the past few weeks raiding Vinnies and Salvo's trying to find appropriate clothing, because as of a few weeks ago I had exactly one dress that would be appropriate to wear.  I didn't manage to find a proper formal dress so hoping that when they say "cocktail dress" they do actually mean slightly shorter dresses..  So this time my suitcase is completely full, even with everything squashed in.

But my nerves finally caught up with my tonight.  I always get super nervous the night before flights.  Because what if something goes wrong and we miss our flight.  The whole trip could get stuffed up (ok, so really only the first night).  I'll relax once I'm at the airport.  Until then, a small shot of whiskey is helping somewhat..
