So where were we?

Friday night we had an early mark, had snossages for dinner and watched tv.

Saturday morning I went into work first thing and was home by 9am which was nice.

Mostly just sorted out our finances all weekend .. hurrah ..

Saturday night we tried to go to Dumpling Inn for dinner with Chris and Mike and Zac, but it was closed for renovations, so we headed into Dickson and ended up at The Scholar Chinese restaurant.  The food there was nice enough but the service was SLOW - it took *forever* to get food.  At least that's what it seemed like for the hungry people.  In reality it was probably an hour before mains arrived.  And we could have sworn that people that got there after us got food before us.  hrmmm.

Today I remembered we had beef cheeks in the fridge that I'd bought last weekend, so I stuck em in the slow cooker with various Chinese flavouring as per Lorraine's recipe.  They were pretty good, although I'd added a lot more water to keep them covered, so the sauce was pretty watery.  Next time I'll add corn flour, or do it on the stove, or cut up the meat a bit to submerge it better.

Then we watched The Truman Show, which I hadn't seen since I saw it at the movies with Luc and Cynthia in 1998.

Not Winning

So that progress I made yesterday?  All failed today cause I'm a retard and stuffed it up and now need to go for a half hour drive just to access the device to kick it in the head so I can try again.

Yeup.

Not to mention my "communication skills" suck.

Just sayin.

Kerry and the kids came over for dinner tonight (they very nicely brought pepperoni pizza nommm) .. but sadly Scotty didn't come as he's meeting up with them later.  Oh wells......

Here's a photo of some iphones I took at drinks the other week.  All iPhone 5 form factor, including an SE in there .. Why can't Apple do an iPhone 7 in a small form factor??

iPhones

Also.  Ward and I are *literally* surrounded by sick people at work.  *Six* of our team are sick with colds, and with Violet coughing all over us tonight, if we don't get sick it'll be a miracle....

Broken sleep last night - too hot / too cold :/

Today was busy but made some progress on something that stumped me a couple of months ago, so that was satisfying.

Didn't get home til well after six, and by the time I'd cooked dinner, eaten it while watching Voyager, done a load of washing and cleaned up the kitchen it was 9pm :(

At least I got a couple of entries done on my new blog.

Took this last week.  Really need to take the cover off the pool.  Don't want ice damaging the bubble wrap ..

Yesterday I took a Random Day Off to recover mentally from the past couple of weeks.  I had a pretty good day, just at home cleaning, tidying, organising, rearranging, scanning, and even starting a jigsaw.

Today I forgot it was school holidays.  Urgghhh.  Too many *people*!!

Another long tiring week.  Culminating with Ryan's farewell and a long lunch that we had no intention of returning from.  A well deserved release.

This weekend has been quiet and mostly at home (except for food shopping at the markets yesterday and a quick trip to Hall Markets with Kit and Pete this morning).  Got some cleaning done, water changed a fish tank, used the leaf blower to clean the gutters, did some more entries on my new blog, cooked a tomato bake and purple brussel sprouts with bacon last night, and an epic lamb roast tonight.  We watched The Human Stain last night, which was ok, but pretty disjointed.

The last two Fridays I've had lunch with the Chrises, which has been nice.

The last two Sundays I've spent all day at work, which hasn't been so nice.

In between there's been another evening at work, a lunch at Gozleme King, a club night, and a BBQ at @CLBradley's which was great.

I've also brought home one of my tapestries from the club so I can work on it while watching tv with the sweetie.

Thursday: Whisky tasting night at work.  The Australian (Limeburners) and Scottish ones (Cardhu and Aberfeld) were actually pretty similar.  Japanese one (Iwai) was ok, but my favourite (that I had seconds of) was the intensely peated one (BenRiach) ;)  Had a bit of the liqueur too but it was very very honey sweet.

Friday: Swim night but I wasn't feeling very sociable

Saturday: Didn't leave the house.  Just did house stuff all day.

Sunday: Work most of the day.

Ok so I didn't actually say that, but I did think it at one point today .. (cf: Love Actually quote)

After two insanely crazy days at work, and after Stu's team got scattered to the wind, I said we should have booze and pizza, which he totally agreed to.  At least the pizza part.  We did share a bottle of some very nice Margaret River Cab Sav and have Crust pizza, and watch some Voyager and Homeland.

Wine and Sparkles

And I keep predicting when people are going to wind up dead in those shows...

Oh yes, a week ago!

Last Sunday we went for a walk with Kit.  We went out to Shepherd's lookout, then walked all the way down to the river.

Work was pretty busy this week.

Wednesday morning I woke up with a cold sore.  Yay.  Thursday Stu was sick with a cold, went to work for the last half day of training, but took Friday off.

Thursday Neil and I did 7ks of walking at lunch.  His knees were not thanking him afterwards for that!

Friday had lunch with the Chrises which was nice.  In the evening just watched some Voyager with the sweetie and got some very nice Mills and Grills pizzas.

Flowers

James and Rachel were down on the weekend to make flowers.  No really.  Icing sugar flowers that Rachel is going to put on Marc's wedding cake.  :)

So they came down Friday night and did their two day course.  I cooked chicken fettuccini boscaiola on Saturday night and inflicted them with our slide show ;)

This week has been crazy busy both at work and at home.  Is it Thursday yet?

Making Stuff

| | Comments (0)

I've been making stuff.  All to be revealed soon :)

I was making stuff instead of cooking tonight, which means I'm going to need to get up early in the morning.. oh well..

Have also done a few entries on my new blog.  Again, all to be revealed soon!

To much to do, too little time.  Can I retire now?  I could really use another eight hours a day to get stuff done...

Thursday night we saw an episode of Voyager that had David Graf in it, so on Friday we watched Police Academy.  As you do :)

Saturday morning I headed into work to do an upgrade, and accidentally upgraded to the latest version instead of the second latest version we were meant to put on.  Whoops.

At lunch the little brother came over, having just purchased a brand new second hand switch.  I brought home cables and we plugged in and had a look and made sure the switch was working, which it looked like it was.  Then we fussed around with our network to see if we could figure out why the NAS won't get a link light on our Cisco switch.  It wouldn't even get link on David's HP switch.  Super epic weird.  Guess will just have to keep using it on our 100Mbps Netgear switch.  After that he did awesome stuff like install a couple of smoke detectors that I'd bought last year but hadn't installed, and we totally reprogrammed our Harmony remote.  They finally have drivers for our TV now which is awesome, and also for the new DVD player we got which has a super dodgy remote that presses buttons multiple times which makes it unusable.  But even though everything works now, the amp still makes the Harmony remote have issues.  Still, we can live with that given that we can drive all our devices now.  Oh and he also pulled apart the fan that's been rattling.  Turns out the mounting for the gear box which turns the fan from side to side had disintegrated.  So he pulled it all out.

Have I ever mentioned how awesome my brother is? :)

In the evening I cooked sausages and very garlicky pasta (sorry!) and leftover veggie bake, and we watched our cruise slideshow and various other cruising slideshows and chatted mostly about cruising.  Quite a nice evening.

Today David went home and I did some house cleaning and cruise blogging and we went food shopping and I cooked a lamb roast with lots of epic veggies and all in all had quite a nice weekend.

Sunday night roasts are my super power

Crazy Week

Completely crazy week at work.  At least it was a short week.

I've finally finished filing and sorting the holiday photos.  And by that I mean changing exif data and renaming files that had the wrong times for whatever reason.  And fighting with the iphone which for some reason on one of the days decided to make the file names an hour different to the actual times taken.  No idea what that was about.  And filing the videos and correcting their times as well.  I swear, holidays should only ever be in one timezone.  Or I need better records of when I take photos so I can line everything up again later.

Thursday night I went with Kit to a party at Heather's (or one of Heather's friends).  It was fun but I was like twice the age of some of the people there.  So it was a little strange.  I felt old!  Unfortunately it was a pretty late night, and of course I woke up at 6am didn't I, so was tired all day yesterday.

We did get out for a walk to Palmerville.

We were watching M*A*S*H over dinner when the little brother called.  What was the name of your ship he asks.  Queen Mary 2 I says.  Watch channel 7 (6) at 8:30 he says.  So we put on Fantasia 2000 at 7:00 and then at 8:30 watched a special on the Queen Mary 2, filmed on a transatlantic crossing not long after she was built.  It was pretty awesome.  Thanks David!

Slept a lot better last night.  Will tackle the todo list today.

Well not much really.

Wednesday night we ran the trivia night which was pretty well attended and enjoyed.  Only two questions that noone got right, but twenty-three that *everyone* got right - whoops!

Thursday had a training day which I always find a bit draining, but learnt some things, even if I won't get much exposure to them in real life.

Friday night we had dinner at Hero Sushi and did some clothes shopping.  The girl at City Chic was quite nice and unthreatening which made the whole process of clothes shopping not *completely* stressful.  And only spent nearly $300 on four items.  Hrmmmmmmm!!  (Vinnies was *much* better value!!)

The weekend was pretty much just *getting things done*.  Had dinner at Annie's last night, but really the weekend was just getting things done that hadn't been gotten done on account of trivia nights and stuff...

Tonight we watched some Voyager, and Particle Fever, which was pretty interesting.

And I made a zucchini bake using one of Serena's epic zucchinis

Wednesday I organised a barbeque for nearly forty people.  It went pretty well, and we kicked on at Lachie's for a while afterwards.

Party trolley

Thursday night I was all set to watch Love Actually, but Chrissie wanted us to babysit Zac, so that scuttled that idea.  Had an early night, but then woke up at 3:30am and probably only got another hour's sleep so was a complete zombie on Friday.

Friday I finished off the Christmas shopping and we got home a bit early.  Had a beer in the pool with the sweetie, then the hoardes descended.  First Serena and Ben, then Chris and Zac, then Dave and Kat, then Kit.  Chris brought up some nibbles, Kit brought some cheese, and Ben returned from a Costco run with wings.  So that was dinner heh.  In the end I think I was in the pool for about five hours.  Whoops!  It also got green between Thursday and Friday which was super annoying.  So it's a bit cloudy now for Christmas :(  It was a bit late by the time we got out, too late to watch a movie.

So after a pretty depressing day at work I met up with Heather to shop for the weekend's club event.  Well really it was for the after party for the actual event.  Except the actual event has been cancelled due to insolvency of a third party and so everyone is pretty devastated.  The after party is still going ahead, but it might feel more like a wake to a lot of people.  And I prolly won't get to see the little brother, who probably had more invested in the whole thing than anyone.

*sigh*

Also.  I'm getting sick. Hurrah.

Spoke too soon ..

Had to log onto work this morning and ended up having to go in.  So the entire day lost to work, and another weekend lost.

To say I'm annoyed at one particular vendor is an understatement.

Of course now I'm second guessing myself.  Maybe this weekend was salvagable.  I just have no idea cause, well, I have no idea about anything.

*sigh*

Looper

In what felt like a loop I was at work for the third weekend out of the last four.  Things went a bit better today though so that was good.

Tonight I watched Looper.  Interesting movie, but has more problems the more you think about it.

Not Home

So it feels like I haven't been home in days.

Saturday work most of the day, a bit of touristing, and dinner was salmon at Chrissie's.  Today out all day on a massive photo project which involved thirteen locations, 261 photos and 14000+ steps.  So tonight I collapsed with a couple of beers, some chicken kiev, and a bit of Survivor.

Oh, it rained a little bit on Friday night.

Blip

Saturday spent the whole day at work looking at graphs.

In the evening we went to Mishi's for a games night but ended up just chatting all night and not playing any games.

Sunday was pretty much just housework and organising stuff all day.  Tried out the Casey Supabarn for something different.  They have some interesting stuff there.

Today I spent pretty much all day chasing a blip.

Tonight I got through my Monday night routine that included cooking and eating dinner, cleaning up the kitchen, doing a load of washing and watching an episode of Star Trek all before 7:30pm.  So I prepped tomorrow night's dinner which was done by 8pm and spent most of the rest of the evening going through a pile of crap that's been building since last year some time.
