Monday I went shoe shopping for Kit's wedding.  Needed to get the shoes before I ordered the dress to get the right heights.  Found a nice pair of silver shoes but they've got a bit of a heel which would hurt my feet so Kit said probably not best to use those.  I might keep them anyway as I can wear them for other things.  Got up to 4000 out of 10500 photos labelled from the last trip.  Also found out that Foursquare killed their RSS feed for my checkins back in March.  How the heck am I meant to get an offline backup of my history now?!?  Stu said I should try IFTTT to get it.  So I did.  About half a dozen clicks later I had IFTTT downloading each checkin to a Google docs spreadsheet.  So disturbingly easy and I didn't touch the keyboard in the whole process.

Tuesday I had another go at shoe shopping after Kit said she'd be happy if we all wore nice thongs.  I sent her pics of a few and saw one she liked so I bought a pair.  Only $15 w00t.  Stu was sick Tuesday and we might have had Kingsley's for dinner.  Whoops.  Made up a tomato sauce with a big bunch of Kit's tomatoes I defrosted on the weekend.

Thursday I went back to the shoe store and bought another two pairs of the thongs so all three bridesmaids will have the same shoes.

Friday a bunch of us went to Rashays for their $5 lunch special (just for the month of May).  Great value that's for sure!

But they are seriously trolling people with their serviettes!

In the evening we started on MacGyver season 2.

Kit had picked up keys during the day as she was up for Katie's sister's funeral (kid was only 12 :( ).  She got home after 1am.  We hadn't slept.  Yay.  I was just uncomfortable and restless.  Torture.  When Kit got home Stu poured us a small nightcap and we chatted to Kit for a while and helped her finish her Big Mac.  Even that didn't help much, and it was after 3am before I got to sleep :(  Woke up at 5am with a sore spine so struggled to get back to sleep.  So that was a fun night.  Not.

Saturday had a little bit of a sleep in.  Kit spent much of the day sleeping and doing uni work (pyjama day for the win!).  I did houseworky stuff and jigsaw.  In the evening I cooked a lasagna with the tomato sauce I made during the week and we watched a Netflix (Stan?) show on street food, this one on Singapore, and The Imitation Game.

This morning Kit and I had a long chat about wedding planning.  I even took notes haha.  Stu and I went out to for lunch and food shopping, and Kit went off to her friend Sophie's wedding.

She came back for a couple of hours between the ceremony and the reception so we mostly just chatted.  And there may have been cheese.  Other than that I was sorting photos - filing photos into more logical directories.  Some work directories have 1000 or 1500 photos in them that need to be filed more logically.  And then I need to crowdsource labelling them.  Cooked a lamb roast for dinner and watched Death in Paradise.

So a fairly quiet weekend which was nice.  Achieved some stuff, although maybe not as much as I'd have liked, but it was generally quite relaxing.

Way back in April we headed up to Sydney for my cousin Ben's wedding.  It was a very relaxed afternoon and evening and it was great catching up with the cousins.

We stayed the night at Oxford Falls nearby, and as we went to leave the next morning we discovered this..

Flat tire

Flat tire

Fortunately we weren't in any hurry and the weather was fine, so it was a relatively low stress thing to fix.  And our spare tire is a full tire, not one of those stoopid mini tires with an 80km/h speed limit which would have made our trip home pretty painful.

Friday morning I was actually excited to go to work.  I really wanted to test the thing I'd be doing on Thursday.  Except I couldn't get it to work.  So went back to feeling demoralised.

Friday night I woke up some time after denist time, and probably only got another hour or two's sleep.  So I was a zombie for Saturday.

Which of course we had to go to Sydney for.  My cousin's wedding in Dee Why.  Which was actually a lovely afternoon/evening.  Will post some photos soon.  We decided to stay in a quiet place in Oxford Falls for the night rather than going back to mum's.  We went to bed at something like 9:30 and apart from needing to go to the toiley in the middle of the night, I slept pretty solidly til about 6am.  So Sunday morning I felt great heh.  Had a simple breakfast at the motel then dropped by Dan and Emma's to see their crazy big old house in Gordon.  Then headed home.

Yesterday afternoon was just getting things done.  I have so much to do in the next week it's ridiculous.  Need to remember to breathe.

Friday was the second of our big work parties.  A lovely afternoon.

Afterwards I was all set to go to bed (after stressing about what the hell I was going to wear to a wedding the next day) when we got messaged by Kit to come down.  So we did.  And after complaining about the fact I had literally *nothing* to wear, she said "you can borrow one of my dresses" and I'm all WTF?? cause she's like super tall and thin and I'm short and fat, and how the hell could any of her things fit me, but then we tried on some dresses and one of them actually kind of suited me!  Freaky hey! (it was German! made in China!)

So Saturday I was still super stressing about the whole day, on account of scary unknowns and *having to wear a dress* so didn't get anything done all day (other than stressing).  But Kit did my hair in this super cool little updo thingie.

Have I ever mentioned we have the best neighbour *ever* ?

And then I had to finish getting ready and *makeup* and running late and stuff, which meant I was super stressed again.

But.

The wedding was lovely and pretty relaxed.

Then we chillaxed for a while before heading to the reception.

Which was also pretty relaxed.  Quite a lovely evening in fact.

Today was trying to get the house sorted in advance of the whole family Christmas thing next weekend.  Achieved a bit of it but not nearly enough.  Then it was duck and wombok (which I tried to kill on account of being a slacker and not of watering it for a day) for dinner and then I hacked and hacked with the AV system to get the old DVD player attached to the working TV so we could watch Love Actually, which hey, I might just love a little bit and make the sweetie watch every year.  Sorry sweetie!

And now the sweetie has headed off to work and it's totes bed time!

Good night!

So quite a lovely wedding, and a good time was had by all.

But special mention needs to be made of the "professional" photographers.  I haven't been to many weddings that have had professional photographers, so I don't really know what's normal.

But I didn't think walking down the aisle with the bride was

Annoying professional photographers

Or getting in everyone's faces during the ceremony (at one point the priest waved one of the photographers away)

Annoying professional photographers

Or sharing the dance floor during the bridal waltz

Annoying professional photographers

Or getting *in the middle* of the Greek dancing

Annoying professional photographers

Or sharing the exit limelight with the bride and groom

Annoying professional photographers

Personally, I found their behaviour to be not very professional at all, especially at the church.  My cousins agreed, and they even later made a formal complaint.  So when one of the photographers was overheard complaining that he couldn't get "five minutes" alone to work (when he'd just *had* five minutes alone, *and* the shot he was complaining about wasn't even setup by him), well you're hardly going to get any respect or sympathy.  But hopefully the photos and video they get will make it worth it.

Anyways.  Congratulations Andy and Crystal :)

Memories of Carols past

Every year when Carols in the Domain come around (always the Saturday before Christmas unless Christmas is on a Sunday in which case they're eight days before - since they never compete with the Christmas Eve Carols by Candlelight in Melbourne.. moving on..), I'm reminded of the year I went to Luc and Cynthia's wedding (up Sydney Tower!!) and got to see the Carols (and fireworks) from up the tower.  It was pretty damned cool!

Happy anniversary for tomorrow guys :)

And the been-there's might have been cool too.

Was Damien's wedding today.  I think I took about six hundred photos, in my role as "official" photographer.  Can't wait to download them all, but not tonight - far too tired! :)  But it was a very pleasant evening.  Had dinner at Bella Vista.  Ate far too much!  Very very full!
