Tuesday - Melbourne Cup day. Helped run a big party at work and made sure all the food got eaten there or taken as leftovers.
Wednesday - Celebration of Neil and Dave5's respective 40ths
Thursday - work drinks, then BBQ at @CLBradley's
Friday - quiet night to myself
Saturday - went to the Ingress First Saturday at Gold Creek, then over to Mishi's for games in the evening. We played a game of Roborally first up, which proved to be difficult, even on a "starter" board. We also played The Logo Game which I won (really must give that back to DC - after scouring for good trivia night questions).
Today was just housework and food shopping. But after my enthusiasm was deflated the whole day became a chore to get through. But we did do a thorough clean of the bedroom - vacuumed about five years' worth of dust from behind the bed, as well as wiped down most horizontal surfaces. And Stu did some gardening. And I did some pool stuff. Cooked a stack of veggies for dinner, to go with some leftover pork. And no washing up. Just wiped out the frying pan, and chucked the baking paper. Easiest cleanup from a roast ever.
Feeling like it's bed time at 8pm though :/
Last Wednesday night we went along to the Library to go to an "author talk" - they had Nick Davies (investigative journalist who exposed the News of the World phone hacking scandal) there for an interview and question time. Quite an interesting night and the sweetie got his book (signed) for us to read.
Saturday was Whisky Live. I don't think they had as many stalls as last year. Tried quite a few different things this year - things I wouldn't normally have tried. Then back to EffanC's place and we watched Thelma and Louise and Pulp Fiction.
Today was just about of stuff around the house and food shopping. We watched the unaired pilot of Sherlock, and also Emperor.
Also this week I lost my longest guardian portal in Longreach. 245 days. Super sad times.
Had a cleaning day today. People will keep making mess, so I'll spend my life cleaning up after them .. hrmmm
Tony and Kiera convinced me to talk home with them. Oops. Did get a few new portals though.
Tonight I mostly geotagged photos (I've basically finished the Canon shots from the group tour). But after you hit save on a day, you have about five to ten minutes where you can't do any more, so I used that time to work through some things on my todo list (mostly house cleaning type stuff heh). If I can achieve as much as I did tonight *every* night then maybe I'll actually get everything done that I need to ...
Friday night we watched the Bourne Identity.
Saturday I had a fairly productive morning, then we headed out to the club for the afternoon/evening. Didn't sleep too well - the mattress we have is pretty crap, so kept waking up with a sore spine.
Sunday afternoon we didn't really do much at all. I did meet the new chickies.
And we did a *lot* of food shopping..
After dinner (of salmon) I went for a walk to hack some portals and make a field (which is surprisingly still there). It was a very pleasant time of day to be walking, and there were flowers and the scent of jasmine in the air. Lovely.
Last night we went to bed early, but I just lay there for hours, not getting to sleep til after midnight :( So then I woke up at 6am *tired*. Blah.
But still had a relatively productive day, so that was satisfying.
Cooked a very evil chicken with cheese and bacon stuffing for dinner - yumm!
Then after dinner we went for a walk around Palmerville. We also watched the first episode of The Code, which I kept getting distracted over all the Canberra been-theres.
Another long driving day today.
Slept ok last night, pillow was definitely better.
Breakfast was pretty much the same as yesterday.
Then off we went.
Had morning tea at Injune.
Got to Roma and went through the Big Rig museum. Ok if you're into mining and stuff but I wasn't hugely interested.
Lunch (pies!) at Roma outside the museum.
As we were driving through Yuleba, someone shouted "camels!" Then there was actually a real life camel train walking down the road. This couple from Gympie were just walking around the country with their caravan of camels. Super cool.
Toily stop at Chinchilla.
Then finally into Toowoomba early evening.
Just had time to dump our stuff and go hack a few portals for dinner.
Dinner was nice enough, but I was feeling a bit blah and pretty anxious to be with friends, so didn't enjoy dinner as much as I could have.
Also, super tired now.
I tried a new bus route today. The drop off is a little closer to home than the other indirect bus I sometimes get, which would make for about a 23 minute trip - still faster than taking the bus the whole way home, plus I get a fifteen minute walk up the hill. Although it took slightly longer today because I had to go kill a portal.
Here's some galahs we saw while out for a walk a few weeks ago.
This had to be smashed, so the sweetie and I killed it all
Here's a bus being towed (!!)
And here's a warm lamb Greek salad. There was leftover roast lamb that needed eating, so fried that up to get it scrumptious, then mixed it with greek seasoning, olives, fetta, capsicum and cucumber. It was delicious.
Had a pretty productive weekend.
(we also had our first fogs of the year this weekend)
Yesterday was breakfast at Edgar's (Pulp Kitchen was too crowded to get a table). I had the eggs bendict which was ok, but the bread was a bit of effort (too tough).
Stu had the rosti stack (which I was looking at too) which was pretty good.
Did some food shopping after that, and then I hacked a bunch of portals while Stu got a hair cut, converting most of Civic for the Enlightened :)
Most of the rest of the weekend was spent clearing out piles and piles of paper. Three in-trays *full* of paper cleared out, filing cabinet drawers tidied, *kilos* of paper thrown into recycling. I even vacuumed the pool and put its cover on, although I didn't get to vacuuming the house.
This was really sad, since just that morning there were 2 Terabyte drives for sale in JB for $99 ... this is like two and a half thousand times the price!
Tonight's dinner was very simple - just a pack of bacon bones, some split peas, an onion and a carrot thrown into a slow cooker with a bit of water, and come back in six hours. And I took Julie Goodwin's suggestion and chucked a handful of frozen peas/corn in right at the end. Super simple and very tasty. The sweetie wanted thirds - must have been good!
