All I've done since getting home is gone to see the chickies, cooked and eaten dinner, done a load of washing, and watched Survivor.

And now it's bed time.

Sigh.

Tired Eyes

Crazy weather today.  It was fine this morning.  At lunch time it was still fine, but the ground was all wet.  After work it was raining, but by the time we got home it there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the moon was out.  And then it started raining again.

Tonight by the time we'd gotten home, done my washing, had dinner, watched the obligatory episode of Voyager, then Survivor, scraped some grout in the bathroom and finished labelling the first day of photos of our last trip, it's suddenly 10pm.

And my eyes are tired.

I hate Mondays.

Tired

Tired of never ending housework.  Tired of cooking.  Tired of a todo list that never gets done.  Tired of mess.

So after yesterday's pretty average day, we watched a free-to-air Air Crash Investigations and then we thought we'd watch a movie.

That was a very silly idea.

Our internet is so bad that Netflix is pretty much out of the question.

The DVD part of our PS3 died years ago so we couldn't watch a dvd on that.

My DVD recorder has recently been dropping out the video and it's been getting worse, dropping out all the time and making movies pretty much unwatchable.

So I dug out my old Toshiba DVD player from under the house but then I was looking at the back of the recorder and all the fricken outputs have cables hanging out.  So I couldn't even easily tell which outputs it was using to swap them to the other player.  So I went and lost it for a while.

Came back a while later and traced through some of the spaghetti.  There's standard video/audio out going into the tv, although I don't think we've been using that.  But I plugged those into my dvd player and set the tv to av mode and up it came.   W00t.  So we put Enemy at the Gates on, which I'd seen a long time ago, but could only remember the beginning, and Stu had never seen it.

Half an hour later it degraded so badly that we couldn't watch it.  I thought it was the dvd, but (after battling for ages to get it to even play) it played through that part of the disk on my computer.  I tried to get a little wifi dongle working in my computer so that I could Chromecast it, but it wouldn't work.

So I went to bed.

Sigh.

Got to sleep ok but woke up when Stu came to bed and stayed awake for ages.  And hurty kept me awake for a while too.

So I was still super grumpy today.

So I went into work to use the internet to geotag all my holiday photos.  About the only success I had all weekend.

Mostly did a jigsaw in the afternoon.  It rained, it even hailed, so didn't do any washing.

Around dinner time (Stu was still cooking and cleaning, bestest sweetie ever), I went down to Kit's to meet the new Ben, and after a glass of wine and a bit of socialising with Kit felt a lot better.  I was telling her the sad story of the dvd player, and she pulled an old one out of her cupboard and said, here you go, try that.  So we did.  And it did actually work for the most part, although it did have similar problems with audio and video a couple of times while we were watching it.  So it was a very frustrating experience.  But we did finally finish watching the movie.

I feel like I need a weekend to recover from my weekend.

Blue

Why does everything take so long?  Or why does time seem to be moving so quickly?

Last night I did one thing - download and process photos.  And it took all night.  Tonight I did one thing - blog my Queensland trip.  And it took all night.

Although we did put a solar blanket on the pool earlier this evening.

Pool cover

And a shelf collapsed on my white desk downstairs (reminscent of the time my brother's one did the same thing thirty-odd years ago when we camped out in his room), sending old fish tank chemicals (set aside for disposal) all over the floor.  Of course a bottle of methylene blue went everywhere didn't it, and that stuff is nasty.  All over the white desk (even on the laminate I didn't fully get it off) and all over the garage floor (that stuff's *never* coming off :( ).

Here I was trying to do the right thing and save them for a safe disposal (if I could find such a thing) when if I'd just thrown them out years ago this wouldn't have happened :(

Wednesday night we had Zac come and stay with us because Chrissie had to go to Sydney for a conference.  We watched Aladdin, which he'd never seen! *gasp* !!

Thursday night we had Ben over for dinner.  Had evil cheese and bacon chicken roast and watched documentaries on Lego and Boeing's Everett "megafactory".

Friday night we did the visiting.  I'd had a crappy day so really didn't feel like socialising, but Kit and Serena had had even crappier days so we all tried to help each other feel better.

Also I'm getting really tired of insomnia (get it, arf arf).  Twice this week I've gone to bed at reasonable time, but then woken up in the middle of the night for hours.  Partly temperature (too hot with the doona on, too cold with it off), partly my brain not shutting up, but mostly just my spine never feeling comfortable :/

What else?

Friday night we had dinner with Damien and Amanda at the Dumpling Inn.  That was nice to catch up with them - haven't seen them in ages.

Saturday morning we did a bunch of shopping, then headed out to the club for a Christmas in July.  We got there a bit before 1:30pm, I put the pork on at 1:50pm, and spent most of the rest of the afternoon organising and preparing and cooking and stuff.  Had some help chopping veggies which was nice, and some people decorated the shed so it was all quite nice.  We bought a 4.8kg piece of pork.  1kg chicken roll.  Lots of veggies.  Made apple sauce from scratch.  We came home with a chinese container of pork.  People ate a lot I tells ya!  Everyone seemed to have a good time so that was nice.

Christmas in July decorations

This is not even all the food - it doesn't show the epic potato bake or really show the carrots and peas!
Christmas in July food

Oh we also made two pavlovas and brought some fruit cake.  Came home with three slices of pavlova and a bit of fruit cake.  Ok I didn't *make* the pavlova, just topped it with cream and berries.
Christmas in July dessert

Sunday was basically just housework.

Today I tried to do my usual morning routine of scanning some photos but my computer refused to talk to the scanner :(  Extremelly upsetting.  Will probably have to reboot my computer and *hope* I can connect next time.

Then Ingress was a big poo due to the last buggy release which meant needing to reboot the phone, then Optus was being a poo so missed out on glyph hacking a level 8 portal.  So I was having a crap day and hadn't even made it to work yet. :(

At work I'm feeling pretty useless.  I'm really too dumb to be in the team I'm in.  *sigh*

Quiet Sunday

My Sunday night depression started last night when we got home.  Too much go go go and then a sudden deflation.  And the weekend was half over and I hadn't been home for any of it.

So I really didn't feel like doing much today.  In the end I alternated between doing holiday photos and a jigsaw.

The sweetie on the other hand spent *hours* cleaning the bathroom, toilet and ensuite, as well as mowing the lawn and doing more garden tidying.  Bestest sweetie *ever* ! :)

Tonight I cooked up a big batch of bolognase for the week's lunches.

One year ago today we went up Taipei 101, wandered through Huashan 1914 Creative Park, and I wandered through Guanghua Electronics Plaza.

Quiet Day In

Today was pretty much just photo sorting, studying first aid, and jigsaws (after another very slow start after another night of being awake for a couple of hours with hurty).

Only left the house to go hack a portal :)

One year ago today we did the Dragon's Back hike in Hong Kong, walking all the way from Chai Wan to Shek O with a 284m high peak in the middle.

Many many years ago, don't remember when, I saw "Three Kings" with George Clooney.  And on account of me having dementia, I remembered pretty much nothing about it.  So we watched it again tonight on Netflix and I had no idea what would happen.  It started off completely ridiculously (like over the top ridiculous - but then - how much of the sentiment amongst soldiers there was actually like that??) and we almost abandonded it, but it actually improved more than I thought it would.

Other than that.. today...

I was awake for three hours in the middle of the night again last night - this time *because* hurty and I threw up half my painkillers because apparently that's what can happen if you don't drink enough fluid with them.  Yay.  So had a bit of a sleepin and really didn't get up til 10am, of course by which time the day was half over.  Yay.

Make up some caeasar salad for lunch with Serena's cos lettuce, and some rissoles for dinner with Serena's parsley and some mince that needed using up.

One year ago today we did another Hong Kong Foodie Tour - this time to Sham Shui Po, wandered through the Golden Computer Arcade, and went up Sky 100.

So was awake for three hours in the middle of the night.  Waiting for hurty to start so I could take painkillers and go back to sleep.  But nothing happened but I couldn't relax and go back to sleep.  *sigh*

So was bit of a zombie day.

Tonight we watched Angels and Demons on Netflix because it's just a bit of fun fluff.

One year ago today we met up with @Chrispycon for breakfast and had a bit of a wander through the Botanical and Zoological gardens, lunch at Dim Sum Square, went for a wander along the waterfront, and met up with Chris and Anne for dinner.

So by the time I got home, did pool stuff, did fish stuff, put on some washing, cooked dinner, ate dinner, watched an episode of House, tidied the kitchen, hung out the washing, and backed up my computer... it's suddenly 10pm.

Sigh.

So instead of doing anything I wanted to do tonight, I'm just going to collapse into bed.

Here's some photos of a bunny rabbit.

So after several nights of reasonable sleep, last night I went to bed at 10pm and didn't get to sleep til 3am.

#grunt

So took another sick day today.  Even actually managed a little more sleep which is rare.

And this afternoon and this evening the cough is starting to lessen.. finally!

Last night after dinner, Doc came up for some gaming and Singstar.  We all played Buzz for a while, then some Mario Kart.  But during a race the picture on the tv fritzed out and died completely (still had audio).  Even a full reboot didn't help.  So then there was some drama with the other tv and cabling and consoles.  In the end we just did Singstar using the limited collection of downloaded tracks that I have, so ran through those and then called it a night.

Haven't tried the tv again today, but now we have to go through the drama of either getting the current one fixed, or getting a new one.  Blerf.

Today was just photo stuff, gardening stuff, pool stuff, shopping etc.

Denim

Did you know you can't buy real denim anymore?  At least not in Target.  The only "denim" they have is the thin stretchy stuff that wears through after only a year or so.  I know this because I've had the same stuff from Jeanswest for the past few years and I'm sick of it wearing out so quickly.  Is there anywhere you can get *real* jeans anymore?  Will have to do some more searching.

Also in Target I couldn't find any pyjamas that inspired me (seemingly no sets at all).

Also in Target I couldn't find any bras of the same style as I got last time, which means I need to start all over a-fricken-gen and try more on.  Why can't you buy the same thing in a couple of years time?  Why do they insist on *changing* things all the time??

So the sweetie took me to Max Brennar and we had italian thick white hot chocolate - soooo evil but soooo good!!

Down and Up

Was feeling miserable on Monday morning on account of fish killing on Sunday.  The day didn't get any better.  The proxies were misbehaving and we spent the better part of the day fighting with them.

Today I decided to apply rules of quantum physics and not look at them.  Strangely they behaved somewhat better.  Probably just having their console windows open adds to their workload (and they never could cope at the best of times).  We'll be damned glad to see the back of them when they go.

Other than that we've been watching Sherlock again.  Awesome show even a second time around.

The last of my angels died a week or so ago.  But I'm a slacker and hadn't pulled it out of the tank.

Then yesterday the sweetie decided to move the last duboisi and the sucking catfish into the angel tank.

Which hadn't been cleaned.

His fish were dead by today.

I might have had a moment.

We totally don't deserve to keep animals.  Part of me wants to get rid of every fricken tank we have.

Also.  Gravity sucks.

Also.  I broke both my middle fingernails today reaching into things.

I suck.

Friday night was swim night, and supper at EffanC's (mmm beef stew).

Saturday morning we headed out to the club.

Whereupon I noticed we had lost our rear number plate :(:(:(  We'd noticed it had been loose once before, but this time it was gone completely.  Called Canberra Connect and various police to report it.  Super epic pissed off, because I really liked that number plate and now we're going to lose it.

Then we did a bit of work scrubbing down the surface of our caravan which was starting to get mouldy.

Whereupon I sliced my finger open on a screw protuding from inside the caravan.

Yeah I pretty much lost it.  We'd been planning to stay the night, but I was feeling too miserable so we just came home.  We looked and looked for the number plate but didn't see it.

Went over to Kit's after dinner though which was nice.

Today, aside from finishing a jigsaw I started last night, didn't do much until we headed out again to look for the number plate. Fifty kilometres of driving around Canberra looking for it, but never found it :(:(:(:(  Will give it a couple of days in the hope that someone will hand it in before applying for a new one.

Did some food shopping them came home.  Watched Guardians of the Galaxy.  Not bad.  Now it must be bed time.

Oh also, I've uploaded a stack of images to old blog posts back to January, so if you could be bothered (I'm sure only mum will), there's pics in the archives.

Was generally having an ok day today (went offline for a while to Get Things Done).  Then frustrations with *people* ruined it right at the end.

*sigh*

Three years ago today we left the Dead Sea and headed for Jerusalem, stopping at Masada and Qumran, then going to the Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, saw the Wailing Wall and went through the western wall tunnels.

Who needs sleep?

| | Comments (0)

Woke up around 3:30 this morning and never really got back to sleep, except for a little while between six and seven.  Blerf.  Stoopid spine and stoopid brain that wouldn't shut up.

Sigh.

Had a fairly cruisy morning getting things done, then everyone wanted everything at once.  I hate that.  Super stressful.

And I forgot to do my clothes washing tonight.

And my feet are *freezing* which will probably mean it'll take me forever to get to sleep.

Blerf.

On a lighter note, we thought our hot water system had died because we ran out of hot water this morning.  But it was ok tonight.  So maybe the sweetie just needs to take shorter showers....

Three years ago today we explored Bethsaida, went up Mount Bental, went to Caesarea Philippi, and explored Tel Dan.
