Monday.  21st.  Did I mention I'm doing low carb again for another few weeks? Except the day got off to a rocky start because I'd forgotten about an apple that needed eating. There goes my carb limit for the day.. whoops. The sweetie prepped a cauliflower bake and brussels sprouts for dinner and I chucked a chunk of beef in to go with it. I got my blogging done quite early. Funny how writing up notes properly during the week makes blogging a lot quicker on a Sunday.. or Monday in this case. DS9 2.24.

Roast beef and veggies

Tuesday.  Awake from Dentist Time for hours and only broken sleep after that. Sigh. NEIL at work, as well as trying to figure out the API of our IP management system to help someone with something. Leftovers for dinner, DS9 2.25. After dinner started going through Dad's photos (from when he switched from slides to prints and onwards) to get photos of Mum. Annoyingly Dad had a really bad habit of over-enhancing his photos. At least with the prints I can go back and rescan them, but for digital photos once they're enhanced at all they're destroyed because he didn't keep the originals. Which is odd in itself because he used to make backups upon backups upon backups, just not of the original unaltered files. #grunt.

Wednesday.  Slept mostly ok. Really wanted to get through some decom prep but the interruptions Would. Not. Stop. All. Day. So damned hard to concentrate with Teams and Outlook popping up every five seconds. Seriously considering turning all notifications off. The sweetie cooked creamy mushroom chicken for dinner which was very nice.

Creamy mushroom chicken

DS9 2.26. Then more photo picking. From 2010 and some of 2011 Dad saved the raw camera photos off separately to the enhanced photos. That was nice of him. Maybe there were other copies of the rest of his digital camera photos elsewhere that either he or I lost. More likely him. I spent an entire week one Christmas trying to sort it all out, and would definitely have kept any raw photos if I'd found them. Knowing him he probably made several backups, thought he had a backup, didn't in fact have a backup, and deleted the original. Or maybe he just never thought he'd need his originals. Silly Dad.

Thursday.  Slept okish until about 5:00. Mostly decom work at work. Bar 59 for drinks which was quite pleasant, although a lot more expensive than work drinks! Made pizzas then DS9 3.1.

Friday.  Anzac Day.  Lest we forget.  Awake from 1:45 for hours sigh.

Mt Rogers

House stuff mostly in the morning. Happy that Stumpy is basking more and is more enthusiastic about food.  Did some camera testing in the afternoon. Only to realise later I had it on the wrong mode. Sigh.

I need to find a spot to plant out these chrysanthemums.  I accidentally uprooted one of the ones out the front the other month and chucked it in a pot out the back.  They're now happily flowering while the ones out the front are barely hanging on to life.  These things like a lot of sun but our garden is completely hopeless so not sure where I can put them.

Chrysanthemums

Kievs for dinner.  With half a cauliflower and most of a capsicum.

Kievs and veggies

DS9 3.2. Then watched Blackberry which made us both a little nostalgic. Also, it's Anzac Day but I've only worn a jumper like twice all year. Usually by now there would have been days where we'd be wanting to put the heater on in advance of the Anzac Day allowed starting date. Instead I had a window open in my room to cool it down so I could sleep.  hrmmm.

Saturday.  Slept mostly okish.

Cooked cheese kranskis and miso scrambled eggs for breakfast.  Although Stu just had eggs because he needed to only eat soft food to not break his temporary tooth crown again.

Started a jigsaw. Went for a several hour drive with the sweetie, checking out previous houses, family houses, the church we got married in etc. Was a lovely way to spend a few hours with the sweetie (and we drove like 70km!).

Made a small share platter for lunch (although I did get hungry later)

Anniversary lunch platter

Finished the jigsaw. Got Chong Co delivered for dinner (after the MenuLog driver finally turned up) and watched DS9 3.3, then The Princess Bride :)

Sunday.  Awake from ~3:30 and never got back to sleep. Sigh.  They promised many millimetres of rain.  We got about three drops.

Black cockatoo mural

Went and saw Constellations at the NFSA with Tony which was a bit of fun. House stuff mostly for the rest of the day, and some food shopping.

When you realise you have 15 different cheeses in the fridge.. whoops...

Filled with rage in the afternoon at Optus who FORCE you to use international roaming because there's no way to disable it. Their only workaround is leave the phone on flight mode and use wifi. WTF??? I think I did read somewhere that if you have a second sim you can disable the Optus one. Which would work unless I needed to receive an SMS for two factor for anything. But there's a heap of horror stories out there from people getting charged the $5/day even when the sim wasn't even in the phone!!!

Hi.

Sunday.  21st.  Had yummy basa bake for dinner, then Futurama, The Crown (Charles and Di's engagement and wedding) and Lego Grandmasters.

Basa bake

Monday.  Slept okish.  Cleaning and tidying day.  Photo culling and Lego Grandmasters in the evening.  The sweetie was having a day so we ended up getting pizza for dinner, including vomit pizza!

Vomit pizza

Tuesday.  Took forever to get to sleep - stressing about All The Things and restless.  Cleaning and decommissioning day.  Six magpies came to see me at lunch - three from either side of the ant hill demarcation line.

Magpie

Skipped doing any music to get an early start on culling.  Leftover butt beef cheeks for dinner.  Still took til 20:00 to cull three days of photos.  hmm.

Wednesday.  Late getting to sleep, slept ok but woke up around 5.  Sick of the stoopid by 9am.  Sigh.  Did a cleaning change in prod which noone has yelled about so far.

Foggy buildings

Thursday.  Slept ok I think.

Sunrise

Cockatoos and bluebells mural

Ok day I think.  After work went with the hills to the Hellenic Club for dinner and AWS show with Emma Pask and Ed Wilson (I'll put pics in another post).  I had veal scallopene for dinner which wasn't on the menu but I saw the dude next to us eating it and asked for it.  It was yummy!

Veal scallopene

Friday.  Took me a while to get to sleep even though it was very late.  And then woke up early.  Sigh.  Surprisingly not a zombie day though so that was nice.  Lots of cleaning and decommissioning work.  Did some weeding at lunch.  A currawong was closely monitoring the situation and even came down right next to me to pick up a big juicy worm I must have dislodged.  After work was Whisky Live which was fun as always.

Whisky Live food

Saturday.  Some cleaning of the bedroom in the morning, and did a sort of Dad's Tasmania photos (this time he'd only smooshed together two trips).  I also found a whole heap more photos of the Lego Brickshow from last year.  I swear I'd taken more photos than I had seen on the Canon and iPhone.  Yeah - they were on the G5X - over 500 of them!  So might post some more of those at some point.  Headed out to the club in the late afternoon for an "M" themed night, which I used as a good excuse to trot out my Minifig costume!

It was also the club's birthday this week, so they had a big cake.  John and Shirley told a heap of stuff about the early history of the club, would have been nice to get it on video actually.  Doh.

Club birthday cake

Sunday.  Somewhat broken sleep (the sweetie couldn't sleep and I was actually a bit hot under a couple of doonas even though it was literally freezing - our water pipes actually froze solid overnight).  Came home and put all the Tasmania slides away and finished the second section of the Titanic, and did some computer stuff.

Here's a couple of photos of a hot air balloon a couple of weeks ago that were in the wrong directory so got missed...

Sunday.  13th.  Roasted up some veggies for dinner and had it with some leftover lamb.  Watched Logan's Run in the evening.  Kinda like Soylent Green meets The Time Machine.  I want to go to the Fort Worth Water Gardens that'd be cool.

Monday.  Epic insomnia.  Went back to sleep for an hour after the alarm went off.  Then it was just house/photo/jigsaw stuff.

Oh hai bird

My aim here wasn't so much to completely get rid of the periwinkle this go, but give the area some light so the freesias will grow.  I'll keep going at it when I get the energy.

Didn't get to do more important things, like putting ratsak into the roof.  Made stuffed capsicums for dinner.  The sweetie doesn't even like capsicums much but he went back for seconds haha.  Then the last three episodes of the girl on the train in the rear window.  Completely ridiculous of course.

Tuesday.  Slept ok-ish.

Nice sunrise

Had to be Neil at work.  Except I can't help myself and try and deal with problems that he's just happy to delete heh.

An hour and a quarter of weeding after work.  Whoops.  Then had to go to back to work late in the evening to do a cert replacement.

I don't think this is all going to fit in the green bin..

Wednesday. Took forever to get to sleep - cold and still too wired from working late.  So pretty tired day.  Was Neil again.  Did music but no weeding after work.  Eh, it was wet anyway.  Late dinner of lefover lamb, cabbage and rice.  Did some photo culling (onto London now).

Cheating on the edges

Thursday.  Slept well for a change!!  Another day of being Neil.  Did some fun mail stuff I wouldn't have gotten to do if Neil was around.  Really not comfortable being in the office.  Too many people off with covid (which means they've likely been in contact with people in the office).  And at drinks someone was sniffling away.  omfg if you're sniffling stay home!  Even if it's "just a cold" I don't want to get your germs.  I guess it could have been hay fever but sheesh..!  Stu want home feeling sick during the afternoon (not covid related), so let him get pizza for dinner.

Friday.  Woke up some time after 3 and never got back to sleep.  Epic sigh.  Pizza=>insomnia??

Saw Tico out the window

Zombie day.  Did a bit of cleanup for Neil because I can't help myself.  And more of the fun mail stuff.  TV dinners for dinner.  Finished Bambi!  And not just Bambi, but the entire Disney Memorable Moments Behemoth!!  40320 pieces!  DONE!!!

Watched Flying High in the evening (after seeing Zero Hour! last week we had to)

Saturday.  Peed once but otherwise slept through from ~10pm til 5:30!! Hurrah!!  House stuff in the morning, and some weeding.  Then just photo culling.  Well other than going out late morning to do a chemist and bakery run for Annie's family, several of which have covid at the moment.

This sweet little geranium is flowering even though it's just sitting in a glass on the window sill, and had been mostly eaten by an epic caterpillar.

Starry Night 20 March

I was going to do some greenery with this.  Really I was.  But the chicken kievs were pretty big and this old bread needed using up, so it ended up being a pretty big meal.  And it was so awesome!!!

Epic brown meal goodness

Sunday.  Today.  I swear brown meals cause insomnia.  Last night took *forever* to get to sleep because I was restless/itchy/uncomfortable.  And then I woke up around 5 and took forever to get back to sleep.  When I went to pee I could hear a pipe running and water dripping.  I thought it was the cooler dripping down the roof.  Slept til about 7:15 but it wasn't enough.  Sigh.  Realised after I got up the dripping was actually from the tap in the bath.  I must have turned it on slightly when I wiped down the bath on Friday night.  This is the only drawback of half turn taps - they are *very* easy to accidentally turn on!  Went out to do ten minutes of periwinkle hacking in the morning but John saw me and couldn't help himself.  He dug into the worst of the roots and pulled out all the rocks and suddenly (an hour and a half later) there's no periwinkle left there at all (I'll have to spray any shoots that come up).  Whoops.  I gave him a couple of beers but he definitely deserved a whole sixpack!!  Maybe a case!!

Whoops neighbour

Does anyone want these rocks?
Whoops neighbour

Then just alternating photo and jigsaw stuff.

Can you guess now?  Easy bit is done, the rest is going to be horrendous :)
Starry Night 20 March

In the afternoon I put on Bambi.  I swear I had a bluray of this.  But maybe I just had the VHS and hadn't gotten around to getting a bluray of it yet.  Anyway, I couldn't find my own copy to watch so put it on on Disney+

Then photos and blogging and rain!

Not backdating ;)  Watching Encore and blogging.

Monday.  15th.  Started back at the beginning with Dad's slides, starting to rescan all the ones that had lots of fluff on them from the scanner.  Probably redoing about a third of them per box.  Had a disjointed/distracted morning at work, not much better in the afternoon, but then lots of complicated and time consuming stuff came in late in the afternoon, hrmm.  Finished off the beef brisket we cooked the other week, and did some weeding.  Also managed to label four hundred photos!! (some in the morning, some before dinner, the rest after, including some during last night's Amazing Race).  Didn't blog though, had to backdate that ;)  Had to LOL at YouTube putting up ads for mens anti-chaffing underwear.. clearly Google thinks I'm a guy..

Also, these little buggers are everywhere at the moment, epic grunt

Evil millipedes

Tuesday.  Slept in a bit, whoops.  I just don't have enough time to do all the things in the morning.  Didn't finish scanning the box of slides for the day.  Another disjointed day, also it was very loud on account of being in the office.  Home late, but did manage to fill the green bin and clean the kitchen.  But then had to try and finish scanning slides (eventually did), label photos (didn't really get done, good thing I did so many last night), and watch last night's Amazing Race.  Need All The Time.  Really.  Had to LOL when a tv ad called out Hey Siri, and my phone answered!

Also, just on our way to work and there's a hot air balloon above our heads

Hot air balloon over our street

Wednesday.  Couldn't get to sleep last night til well past midnight.  Then broken sleep til 2am.  Sigh.  Ok day I think.  Rinse and repeat of morning and evenings, nearly 8pm by the time I got to sit down at the computer.  Did get some photos labelled though and watched last night's Amazing Race.

Thursday.  Ok day I think?  Drinks and pizza, Simpsons/Laid Back Camp/X Files as per usual Thursday night TV.

At drinks some guys brought some games along.  One was Tsuro which I played two games of.  I drew on the first game I played, and got booted off in the second.  Fun game.

Friday.  Hurrah for being at home.  Although did have to be on the phone half the day, blerf.  Leftovers of chicken and rice for dinner, some TV and Cool Runnings which I've never actually seen before, and an episode of Encore.

Saturday.  Got the housework done pretty early, then started work on processing Dad's slides.  I figured out how to add the shutter speed, aperture and focal length data of all Dad's slides into the files with excel to generate cli stuff to use exiftool to add it all.  Worked with all the processing of the photos, and got all the exif data added to all the files I'd rescanned in the past week.  Had cajun potato wedges for dinner, and then watched Seven Years in Tibet (which we'd never seen before) with the sweetie.

Should be fine right?

Should be fine right

Sunday.  Another day of powering through getting the processing of Dad's slides up to date.  Ok so I didn't do much else all weekend, but I'm in a pretty good position to keep up with Dad's slides as I rescan them over the next couple of months, and then I'll be all done.  At least with his slides ;)  I might have also spent a bunch of time geotagging his photos from his holiday to Narooma in 1960.  And made a lemon cheesecake.  And planted some lemon seeds (that were sprouting inside the lemons).  And blogged.  And had some chicken from Robert's feast I defrosted and reheated.  And watched some more Simpsons, Laid Back Camp and Encore.  And blogged some more.

Have seen balloons (and frost) a few times this week.

Frost and balloons

On Monday morning it was *cold*.  Freezing in fact.  The ice was so thick on the tub of water out the back that I have no idea how thick it actually was.  It held up a potplant with no effort.

Freezage

There was slight freezage of the pool that morning, but just a few crystals.  Same with this morning.

George came by yesterday and said hi to the fish.

Skywhale

The other week when Fiona was here, before we had breakfast at Pulp Kitchen, we tried to see the Skywhale in Ainslie.  Except we arrived about five minutes too late, and only just managed to see it in the air as it was coming down.  We did get to grope its boobies though!

Had a super awesome day today.  Someone gave me access to do a big cleanup of a system that's been annoying me for *ages* because of how messy it was.  So I cleaned all day.  And loved every minute of it :)

And here's a hot air balloon that flew past our house a week or so ago..

Airforce Balloon

So a few weeks ago Dave talked me into going on a balloon ride this balloon fiesta.  Well it didn't actually take much talking - I've been wanting to do this forever and even tried to organise something last year but it was all too hard and never ended up going.

Yesterday morning we were meant to be at Questacon at 5:45am, so I dutifully set my alarm.  Except I set it for 5:51am instead of 4:51am!  Thank heavens Dave called me at 5:19 otherwise I'd have missed out completely.  So instead of a leisurely getting ready time, I was ready in three minutes flat, and had to do my hair in the car, and no shower.  Blah.

We went with Balloon Aloft, and it was all very organised.  They took us out to Kingston so that we could see the rest of the balloons from a distance rather than being right in the middle of them.

There's sixteen to a balloon - four to each of four compartments.  When it was time to get in, we hopped in, but a group of four tried to get in with us.  They'd gotten three in before the operators said you can't do that, and of course we had to get out and move.  Which was fair enough, but it turned out a bit bad in terms of positioning on the ride.  We ended up at the "back" of the basket rather than the front, which meant we were facing the wrong direction for the rest of the balloons, the wrong direction for Civic, the wrong direction for Black Mountain and the wrong direction for Belconnen :(:(:(  And if it had been sunny we would have had the sun in our faces the entire trip - luckily it was cloudy then!  Was really really frustrated that I couldn't get photos of some of the things I wanted to :(  The final insult was them wanting to charge $15 for a photo of us on the balloon.  For the price we paid ($360 each) I think they could have thrown this in!  So wasn't too happy about that.  But anyways.

Otherwise the ride was pretty awesome.  Took 672 photos!

So we landed and came back for breakfast cooked by Neil and then went home and attempted to get more sleep (I failed!)

I did a jigsaw

And did a bunch of UK planning.

Didn't end up going out for dinner, which was a bit sad-making.  Watched Toy Story 1 and 2 instead.

Today it was miserable again, so stayed inside all day.  Did a whole lot of nothing, played a game of Ticket to Ride Europe, and cooked dinner.  Which is still cooking :)

Balloons!

After being kept up til 1am by work crap, I didn't think I'd be able to wake up in the morning at stoopid-o'clock.  So I smsed Annie and said I wasn't likely to be going.  But at 5:39am I woke up naturally, so decided to get up and go.

It was pretty cool.  Was prettier than when we went last year because the sun came out!  So got some colour.  Took an entire roll of film (200-odd photos).. here's fifteen of them :)
