Sunday.  19th.  Cooked roast beef for dinner.  It was a topside roast and it was very salty, almost like corned beef (although not *that* salty).  And even though I only cooked it for like an hour and three quarters (for 2kg meat) it seemed overcooked.  It looked a lot more well done that it should have, although it was quite juicy still.  Stu thought maybe it had been brined or something.  hrmm.  Started into season 6 of The Crown.

And in other news.. it's eggnog season!!

I added some tinsel and a string of lights to the Christmas tree.

Monday.  Slept ok for a while but then broken sleep in the middle of the night (not helped by Stu not sleeping really at all, which somehow disturbed me even in the other room).  Was mostly Neil all day and fighting with the servers to do some filtering on more stoopid Microsoft crap that's been coming our way since Friday.  They promised rain and storms all day.  Pfft.  Finally got around to it late in the afternoon.  Cooked a nice yellow curry for dinner.

I'm going to document this better, and this variety had mushrooms cooked at the beginning, but my "official recipe" now will be onion, ginger, half a jar of yellow curry paste, garlic, fish sauce (maybe a couple of table spoons), lime juice (either from a fresh lime with zest, or cheat and use bottled juice), brown sugar (maybe a couple of tablespoons), a tin of light coconut cream (not in the photo), then whatever protein and veggies you feel like.  There was leftover beef in this one, capsicum and bok choy/choy sum.

Back into season 34 of The Simpsons.  Far out this season is.. weird..!  Then lots of photo filing.

Tuesday.  Slept ok.  Bit of mail crap in the morning (fixed the filters I was working on).  Did some comms doco for another infrastructure team because they can't/won't fricken do it themselves.  Seriously other infrastructure teams are the WORST at doing doco/following (our) procedures.  Also some work on some new proxy servers for a migration.  In the evening was filing a small batch of photos from 2010 that had somehow never been filed.  It's a *lot* harder to figure out what stuff is from thirteen years ago, especially without the help of Foursquare checkin history.  Then Twin Peaks 1.5.

This speech was in The Simpsons tonight which was like .. yah huh ..

Enough of this do-goodery. Open your eyes, rich people. We're not here to help the less fortunate, we're here to bask in our fortunateness. If we really wanted to make a difference, we'd do the one thing we've spent our lives avoiding, paying our taxes. ( Laughter ) Then one organization, "the government," could tackle all of society's ills, instead of leaving it to 1.5 million separate ego-driven micro-bureaucracies called "charities," including... get a load of this scam... religions. But no one here wants the rational way. We all want the United Way because that's the American way. Now, I paid $10,000 for this table. I'm taking it with me.

I don't really discuss politics on my blog, but I do feel like rich people should pay more taxes so the government can properly handle critical stuff like health, education, transport, communication, energy etc and not have that stuff be privatised.

Wednesday.  Slept ok.  Decided to work from home "just in case" I got covid.  Which gave me a bunch of extra time before I started work so I could get things done around the house.  Tidied the kitchen, did a fish tank water change and put my washing away.  Didn't get much actual real work done because I spent the day dealing with people wanting me to solve their problems for them.  Leftovers for dinner.  Finshed filing the directories of "previous years" photos (going back til about 2019), which means my entire "to be filed" folder was empty!!  Hurray!!  Things still do need more refining but pretty happy with that achievement.

Also added more lights to the tree.

Christmas tree

Thursday.  Took a while to get to sleep, but then still woke up early.  Again working from home so did more house tidying before I started.

All The Problems in the morning, then documented some more decom work in the afternoon.  Beer and pizza (delivered).  Then after seeing the documentary on Pretty Woman the other night, decided to watch that.  I'm not sure if I've actually seen it or not since I saw it at the movies in 1990.  So that was a bit of fun.  The other day I noticed @kapgar's rss feed wasn't updating.  The rss feed I have in The Old Reader is http://kapgar.typepad.com/my_weblog/index.rdf but if you go to that it tries to download it.  The link on his blog is https://www.kapgar.com/my_weblog/atom.xml but when I try that in The Old Reader I get:

We couldn't find an exact match, but here are some similar feeds we found that might be what you're looking for.

Friday.  Some training in the morning then spent the rest of the day deleting All The Things.

Stu is staying positive about his covid situation..

Staying positive

Did a bunch of weeding after work then kiev for dinner.

Chicken kiev

Then into season 7 of Death in Paradise.  Then watched Malcolm.  Wasn't sure if I'd ever actually seen it, but I think I might have a while back.

This is funny.  We had the print of this above our "fireplace" at home.  If the thing hadn't been damaged by the new air conditioner they put in I would have taken it when Mum sold the house.  It was also in The Henderson Kids.  Annoyingly windoze 11 won't let you screenshot Netflix.. wtf?? Whenever you try you just get a black screen instead of the content.  Irfanview wouldn't work either.  In the end I just took a photo.. but seriously microsoft wtf??

Saturday.  Slept mostly ok.  Did some house stuff in the morning (including putting up some more Christmas decorations) then mostly inventorying.

Paver weed strawberry

Storm in the afternoon.  Cooked creamy fettucini because there was nothing else to do while my computer was off for the (five minute) storm.

Creamy fettucini

On Netflix last night I saw there was a short film on The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.  !!  So Saturday night I watched it.  OMFG it was so cool.  It was like word for word the same as the story and done in quirky Wes Anderson style.  Turns out there were four short films so I watched the other three as well - The Swan (which I remember reading and being sad about), The Rat Catcher, and Poison, neither of which I remember reading (but may have).  ** Edit: Poison was in Tales of the Unexpected that I have **

Sunday.  Slept ok but then woke up at 4:40 from a dream that we were in Italy and firstly we were on a bus travelling through Milan and I kept seeing things I thought I should take photos of but I was exhausted and it was going to take effort to pull out my camera and then not long after we had to catch a ferry (on the west coast of Italy, yeah nowhere near Milan) but I followed Mum down this sandy hill but we got separated from the tour group so I tried to back up to find them but couldn't and then we had to try and find a bus to get down the hill to the ferry and I was trying to find some contact information for the tour company but I was worried the paperwork was in my luggage that was with them, but I did find it in the end but then I was stressing about trying to get roaming working on Optus.  The lesson I learned from this dream is that you should always always get the mobile number of the tour operator/guide as soon as you meet them in case of emergencies.  I've never done this but I think I might try in future.  Finished putting up Christmas decorations in the morning as well as some house stuff, but then just inventorying most of the day.

Cooked tuna casserole and veggies for dinner, then into season 2 of The Orville.

Monday.  13th.  Slept ok.  Not much useful in the morning.  In the afternoon I settled down to get some real work done but then the non stop interruptions.  Sigh.  Tried the cooler again in the afternoon.  This time it worked!!!!  Must have just gotten stuck.  Will ask them about it next time we get it serviced.  Leftover beef for dinner then Twin Peaks 1.3.  Man, David Lynch is weird..   @phonakins posted that it was 42 days til Christmas which freaked me out slightly haha.  This year has gone way too fast.  I might need to put my tree up soon.. ;)

Bee on mystery flower

Tuesday.  Slept ok.  Busy day but didn't feel like I achieved much.  Cooked gnocchi and salad for dinner then Twin Peaks 1.4.

Wednesday.  Slept ok.  Busy day but didn't feel like I achieved much.  Went to pick up the sweetie, although he only had one drink so I had one as well then we went to Happy's for dinner.  We were the only couple for a while with like four other single guys.  It was 20:00 by the time we got home.  But nicely, during the day I checked if my cgi scripts were working and discovered they were!  Nothing from Vodien to say they'd fixed things though.  Hopeless.  Blogged the other week because I could.

Thursday.  Busy day but didn't feel like I achieved much.  Drinks/pizza.  Started watching Futurama with dinner but then started talking to Kit and ended up facetiming her for a while.  In other news.. Stu messaged during the day that he felt like he was having an immune reaction.  Hrmmm.

White bottlebrush

Friday.  Busy day.  Managed a bit of decom work and some Splunk training in between everything else and All The People wanting All The Things.  Kiev Friday!

Kiev Fridays

Then Death in Paradise 6.8.  The tune for the theme song is actually from a song called You're Wondering Now, by the Specials.  Which they actually had a version of at the end of the show.  Cool!  Even cooler.. Stu has it on CD :)  Afterwards I watched Turning Red which I had no idea what it was about.  For some reason it kind of annoyed me the pushing of western values, but the director was Chinese-Canadian so there's that..

In other news, Stu was definitely feeling sick today.  I told him to go back to bed but he was too busy with work.  He took a RAT but it was negative.  His boss on the other hand.. yeah no...

Saturday.  Slept in the other room so Stu could cough and splutter in peace.  House stuff in the morning.

I've gotten a few paver weed strawberries.  I've lost a few others to snails.
Paver weed strawberry

Stu took another RAT.

Had to happen

Welp.  Guess it had to happen eventually.  First positive RAT we've had in our house.  Decided to mask up and go do food shopping in case I get it too and neither of us can go out.  Put up the Christmas tree in the afternoon.  A week earlier than I normally would, because at my age the weeks fly by so quickly that I wanted an extra week to enjoy it :)  I just did the tree and will decorate it and the house over the course of the week.

Christmas tree undecorated

Cooked up some mince with ragatoni for dinner, then we finished season 1 of The Orville.  Afterwards I watched The Movies that Made Us on Pretty Woman.  I saw that movie at the movies but don't know if I've actually seen it since.. may have done once.

Sunday.

Got a bit of house stuff done and some catch up blogging (RecipeTin Eats!!) but mostly trying to figure out what minifig heads I have.  Split out my hymns into batches so I don't need to do all of them every week.  Downloaded my photos.  Apple has decided to present HEIC files to windoze instead of JPGs like it usualy does.  EVEN THOUGH I HAVEN'T CHANGED ANYTHING!!!  Far out I hate Apple. So. Much.

Star!  I'll be very sad when this thing dies

Christmas tree with basic lights

Oof I made this back in September but only just got around to blogging it.  I've been wanting a goto recipe for Mac&Cheese and what should come along for my birthday but a book with a recipe in it!

Everything ready to go.  17:32.

Macaroni pasta.
Cheese sauce of butter, flour, milk, gruyere and mozzarella, with seasoning of garlic power, onion powder, mustard powder and salt.
Topping of panko, butter and salt.

Mac and cheese

Everything measured out.  18:08.  Yeah the mise en place for all these recipes takes forever.

Mac and cheese

Cooking the pasta and starting on the roux.  I was thinking I'd be able to make it all up in the fritatta pan and just stick in the oven.  But there was going to be way too much volume for that.  So I should have made the sauce in a saucepan which is less messy when you're whisking flour and butter together.  She also wanted to mix butter through the pasta when it was done before mixing it with the sauce.  I think I'd just time it so I could mix the pasta into the sauce straight away in the baking dish.

Mac and cheese

Once you've cooked the roux and added a bunch of hot milk, start to mix in all the cheese, then add the seasoning mix.

Mac and cheese

Looks nice and cheesy!

Mac and cheese

Mix the whole lot together in a big baking dish.

Mac and cheese

Top with the panko topping.  18:47.  So an hour and a quarter to get to this point.

Mac and cheese

Bake for 25 minutes or so.

Mac and cheese

Top with parsley to serve.

Mac and cheese

Nom nom nom.

Mac and cheese

The recipe turned out really well, but there's definitely things I'd do to streamline preparation time.  Not measuring out every little thing to start with.

Is the juice worth the squeeze?
Me: Yes, with modifications to the procedure
Stu: Yes

Monday.  30th.  Backdating because of the Second Great Vodien Outage of 2023.

Took ages to get to sleep and woke up early but otherwise slept ok.  Upset that my website was still broken.  More work on the trial proxy and another long call with them.  Sigh.  All The Leftovers for dinner.  Some of it just over two weeks old.  Whoops.  Let's see if we get food poisoning.  Went through my bank statements for first pass of America spending.  Bit of Amazing Race 4.7.

It was raining but this looked so pretty I just had to get snap of it

Tuesday.  Um.  Work.

Wednesday.  Sneaky trip to Sydney.

Thursday.  Slept fairly well.  Fighting with proxies all day.  Decent drinks.  Made Stu a pizza and had a tv dinner for dinner (I was getting sick of pizza).  Finished Amazing Race 4.7 and watched 4.8 as well.

Friday.  Busy day but didn't achieve much.  Kiev for dinner then Death in Paradise 6.6 and Amazing Race 4.9.

Saturday.  Lay in bed for an hour not sleeping and then the restless legs kicked in because I was so tired.  Gave up at 12:30 and went and slept in the other room.  Did a bunch of things in the morning so I could get them out of the way so I could do Lego inventorying.  But.  Bricklink was down.  Sigh.  Tried to file some mail in Eudora but it kept freezing up and eventually the whole thing hung.  Didn't want to kill it because that's how mailboxes get corrupted.  Did eventually kill it and had to refile a bunch of things because the mailboxes didn't save.  Looked at what else was on my todo list.  There was lots of blog entries to be posted.  But I couldn't do that either because my blog was still down.  Sigh.  So went through America spending.  What was cool was that I withdrew $80 in cash.  I spent $80.03.  Or $80.04.  Depending on whether I was plus or minus a cent.  Pretty cool that I was within one cent of documenting though.  Also did some food shopping.  Went to M&M's for dinner with R&F for some awesome seafood risotto and a yummy cheesecake, and played Five Crowns after.  I forgot what was wild at least once.  Also the pool cover I gave them didn't quite fit so said they could try and sell it and we could split the cash or something.

Round one of collecting purple poppy seeds!

Sunday.  Bit of a late night.  Bricklink was still down - seems that some accounts had been compromised so they shut the whole thing down to sort it out.  Blog was still down.  I'd put in a support email during the week but nothing back.  Tried to do some photo filing but got hung up on the "best" way to do things.  Stoopid damned perfectionism.  In the evening we started watching season 11(?? depending how Disney defines it) of Futurama.  I was wondering why the voices sounded a bit .. off.. until I realised it had been a TEN YEAR gap since the last series and everyone's in like their 60s and 70s.  Then The Orville 1.10.

Sunday.  22nd.  Backdating because when I went to blog this a couple of weeks ago, found that Vodien had broken my CGI scripts AGAIN which meant none of my CGI scripts worked at all, and I couldn't even use the terminal shell.  More on that later.

Leftover veggies and duck sauce that I brought home from the coast for dinner, yum!  Then The Orville 1.8.

Monday.  Be early, slept fairly well.  Still woke up tired though.  And stressed about the lack of weekend.  Meetings in the morning and trial proxy working in the afternoon.  At lunch popped into the mall to get a covid booster and run some errands.  Sausages for dinner and Amazing Race 4.2.  Found myself getting super annoyed at the rich people saying like "oh I never do washing, I buy undies and tshirts and wear them once then throw them out".  People like that are everything that's wrong with the world.

Tuesday.  Had a pretty rough night on account of vaccine reaction.  Pretty slow morning - still feeling a bit rough.

Bottlebrush

Stu cooked gyozas for dinner.

Gyozas

Wednesday.  Slept somewhat better.  Fighting with frustrating trial proxy.  Then was fighting with this super weird problem with some really bizarre symptoms we'd literally never seen before.  Turned out to be assymmetric routing which I could have probably figured out quicker if I'd actually paid attention to the logs that were LITERALLY RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.  I was so upset.  That lack of situational awareness and tunnel vision is how planes crash.  Good thing I don't fly planes I guess.

On a lighter note.

Hello

Thursday.  Awake for ages in the middle of the night.  Just restless.  Didn't take any work notes so no idea what I did.  Probably crap.  Had a sausage at drinks on a "welcome to summer" night, which was freezing cold.  Pizza for dinner (not much for me), then first episode of David Attenborough's Tasmania.

Friday.  Some cleaning in the morning, and some security talks in the afternoon.  Kiev for dinner (Kiev Fridays!!) then Death in Paradise 6.5.

Kiev

Saturday.  Super productive day doing All The Things!!  Including chopping some huge branches off the photinia (thanks Tony!!), a green waste run, moving the rest of the stones (thanks Tony and F!!), and gave away our old pool cover to M&M.

Did some music in the afternoon as well, then pasta for dinner and then watched The War of the Roses.

Sunday.  Slept ok.  Did a few bits and pieces in the morning but the mostly inventorying Vic's Lego (nearly done with the loose pieces!).  Took me about fifty minutes to play through all the hymns I've collected.  Will probably need to split them in two.  Put on dinner and then I sat down to blog.

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

FFS.  What have they done this time.  Checked my address book scripts.  Also broken.  So then tried to use the terminal to access stuff via CLI.

cagefs_enter: Error entering cagefs jail: Unable to determine realpath of /home2/<user> (No such file or directory)

FFS.  And error logs were full of this crap

Sigh.  So no blogging for me.  But did go in and backup my database just in cases.  Basa bake for dinner, then The Orville 1.9 and Amazing Race 4.6.

Basa bake

Sunday.  8th.  Backdating, because, well the mother type person called me just as I sat down to blog which took up all my blogging time before I had to start cooking dinner.  Watched The Orville 1.6.

Monday.  Slept okish although woke up at like 4:45 and it was all over.  Ok day catching up some stuffs and thinking about next server migration.  Cooked butter chicken for dinner which was quite nice (cut up the chicken and marinated it Sunday night).  Wrote up all our cash spending from our Europe trip and it was only out by 0.50c which was pretty impressive.

Wednesday.  Awake for two and a half hours in the middle of the night.  Sigh.  Spent some time fighting with the disaster recovery laptop, but gave up, couldn't be bothered fighting with admin permissions and group policy.  Had Mooney's farewell in the afternoon and Wello's birthday at Cypher in the evening.

Oh hai

Cypher mac and cheese bites

Thursday.  Awake for a while in the middle of the night but wasn't too bad.  Too much noise and too much crap in the office to concentrate on anything there, plus two new starters.

Friday the 13th.  Went to bed at 20:20, but didn't get to sleep til like 23:00, then awake from 3:00.  Sigh.  Zombie morning.  Was going to do some tidying but that would have required brainpower which I didn't have, so spent most of the day deleting stuff.  What could go wrong? :)  Ahsoka 1.7.  Wondered if there was any point going to bed, because bed is where I go to NOT sleep.  Sigh.

Saturday.  Sure enough, awake for ages, but at the beginning and in the middle of the night.  Sigh.  Zombie day hurrah.  Went out to the club and spent the whole day raking leaves around the place.  Took CRD with us which was nice as we haven't seen her in ages (although it did make it too complicated to go out the Friday night).

Wheelbarrow huntsman

Leftovers for dinner then Death in Paradise 6.4.  Silly episode because if they'd just checked all the suspects for GSR they'd have solved it in a few minutes.  Even peeps on IMBD agreed heh.  Sadness that No got up.

Sunday.  Slept ok but still awake for a while in the middle of the night.  So still pretty tired.  And my everything hurt.  I'm not used to working for a living.  Did some blogging catchups, food shopping, fish stuff and a heap of gardening - planting all the seeds - dill, coriander, tomato, mint, wombok, sunflowers and also planted out some spring onions on the kitchen window sill.  Basa bake for dinner with brussels sprouts and bacon (which we completely finished) and also made up a bolognase sauce to have on other nights this week.  Watched The Orville 1.7 and Twin Peaks 1.2.

Herb and cheese on rye

Basa bake and also tomato sauce

Monday.  2nd.  Not backdating for a change.  But it is running pretty late on a Sunday afternoon when I still have two dinners to prep/cook.  And that's without even doing the Captains Flat post.  hrmmm.  Awake for a while in the middle of the night, but otherwise slept ok.  Tony helped me with a greenwaste run in the morning which was very nice of him.  Then Lego inventorying and jigsaw but not much else.  Apple is so retarded.  I told it to trust my phone the other week.  It still doesn't and I still need to enter the password every time I want to back it up.  Tuna casserole for dinner.

West Belconnen

Left is "brown".  Right is "reddish brown".  According to Bricklink, the radar dish doesn't exist in brown, only reddish brown.  I beg to differ.

Tuesday.  Took ages to get to sleep - hot and restless.  Have I mentioned how hot it's been the past little while?  Ok day.  Procrastinating at looking a new proxy product by catching up on life.  Watched the first episode of Twin Peaks, which I've never seen, although I have known whodunnit for over thirty years.

Went to reply to an email of Mum's in the evening and it wouldn't send.  First up I was getting TLS failures.  I'd already updated a couple of the dlls for Eudora a couple of years ago, but found updated ones from the Hermes project so got past that fairly quickly.

Great. Except now I get:
the SMTP server (mail.internode.on.net) said:
550 mf-505: Sender Policy - Relay Denied

*sigh*  F$*%ing internode have broken their SMTP server (moved it to AWS).  Previously you could always use their SMTP server if you were on their network.  Now.. they're like nope, screw you.  So much for an internet "service" provider.  Got literally nothing else done tonight.

Thursday.  Took ages to get to sleep.  Cranky with everything and everyone.  Fighting with proxies most of the day.  Busy drinks (old farts drinks).  Pizza for dinner (although not much because too much pigging out on snackages).

Friday.  Fighting with proxies in the morning.  Gave up because the thing won't block an executable file if it's been renamed to .txt.  Did decom work in the arvo, because Fridays.  Ahsoka in the evening.

Saturday.  Awake in the middle of the night for two or three hours.  Sigh.  Had breakfast at The Scottish Restaurant then did food shopping from a couple of places.  Was nearly midday by the time we got home.  Sigh.  Afternoon alternating between cleaning the house and finishing the jigsaw.  Roast beef for dinner and had Chris and Glenda over which was lovely.  Played Battle of the Sexes in the evening.  The questions were fun but the rules were pretty confusing and the gameplay was a bit retarded.

Sunday.  Awake for a little while in the middle of the night but not as badly as last night.  Spent the ENTIRE MORNING fighting with SMTP.

Had a go at connecting to Vodien for authenticated SMTP.

Firstly had to enable "esoteric" features in Eudora so that I could see the ports.  Ended up setting the SMTP port to 587.

Started off with errors like
535 Incorrect authentication data
Can't send to ''. The server gives this reason: '550 SMTP AUTH is required for message submission on port 587'.

I was able to get Thunderbird to authenticate against my kazza.id.au host and send, so then spent ages fiddling with configs in Eudora trying to get it to work.  Eventually after MUCH hacking I got it to work.

But then my SPF record needed to be updated.  Gmail was rejecting with fun errors like
"Messages missing a valid Message-ID header are not accepted"
but even that was inconsistent.  Eventually after much hacking and googling I settled on
include:_spf.syrahost.com include:all._spf.ds.network
which as it turns out was buried deep in cpanel as well.

Of course the problem is now I can't send emails to Stu's domain, or to David's domain, because I have those in my cpanel account for web hosting, and now it thinks it owns them and delivers the mail to me not them.  Sigh.

The afternoon was then music, weeding and blogging.  And I haven't even finished catching up on blogging.  Sigh.

I need a weekend to recover from my weekend.

Monday. 25th. Backdating because last week's blogging time was taken up with blogging the previous week. Sigh. Awake from 2-5 or so. Sigh. Zombie morning. Did some work on getting stuff backing up to a new server.  Did some weeding while Stu cooked dinner - gyozas, yum.  Tired.  So tired.  But then hardcoded my style sheet to https so at least the blog will render ok in either http or https.

It's a bit hard to tell from the angle what this is.. I was taking a plate out of the microwave and it caught on the rim of the microwave plate and took a great big chip out of it :(  Not happy Jan!

Wednesday.  Took ages to get to sleep.  Still woke up early though.  Fighting with stuff on our DR laptop.  Had a 1.5 hour meeting with a vendor in the afternoon which left me completely wasted, but then had to wait another 1.5 hours for the sweetie.  Sigh.  Beer and homemade pizza for dinner.  Mum got a new computer cause her old one died, but they didn't just install everything fresh and copy data across, no they migrated the c: drive as is and massaged into working on the new hardware.  Which is a shame because she could really do with a clean install of windows in case of any lingering malware and nuisanceware on there.  Didn't get anything done in the evening because we got home so late and then I just wanted to collapse into bed.

Sunday.  House and hobby stuff all morning.  Spent some time planning out all the things I always need to get done before Christmas and trying to come up with a plan for getting it all done.  Met up with various peeps at Herbert's for Sunday music.  Basa bake for dinner, then The Orville 1.4 and Death in Paradise 6.2.

HTTP vs HTTPS

I've changed the style sheet called by this blog to use a https url.  This means that when Chrome is a buttplug and changes to using https instead of http WITHOUT CONSENT, the style sheet will still render.  It's happy to display the mixed content image files ok though (has that changed..? I didn't think browsers would render mixed content images either back in the day).

Anyway, if you notice any issues with the way the site displays please let me know.

Sunday.  17th.  Backdating because, life.  I need to retire.  I had a nice day doing house stuff and hobbies, but I need a day like that every day for the rest of my life.  Just to keep up.  Cooked RecipeTin Eats garlic roast potatoes to go with some roast lamb (that was sadly very gristly).

Chrome is being super annoying.  My blog is http only.  Because when Movable Type was invented noone used https.  And it hardcodes everything with full urls.  But https is enabled on the domain, and because of that, Chrome will try to use the https site EVEN IF THE LINK YOU CLICK ON IS HTTP!!!  The problem with that is the mixed content.  It renders the images ok (clearly browsers have decided it's "safe" to allow mixed content images), but the style sheet is not rendered so the site looks dumb.  It's pissing me off.

Monday.  Slept ok.  I think.  Stoopidly busy day.  Late finish (doing doco! hurray!) then some weeding.  Leftovers for dinner.  Then spent an hour waiting for the support peeps at Vodien to actually pay attention to the call they're on and reset my cpanel password after the great upgrade fiasco of the other week.  What should have taken all of a few minutes took over an hour.  Sigh.  Gave up using the nice long Kogan iphone cable because it kept not working.  Either not even registering at all, or saying it was charging but wasn't.

Tuesday.  New iphone cable also playing up - saying it was charging but then not doing anything.  Replug it in and it'll actually start charging.  #grunt (although as of nearly two weeks later it's been ok).  Busy day.  Did some firewall cleaning.  Weeding after work.  Some frozen stuff from the parties for dinner.  Finished writing up hotel posts for Europe trip.  And finished season 23 of Air Crash Investigations.

Cape weed may be an invasive species but it is quite pretty

So.  Many.  Weeds.

Two kiev balls left, and those carbonara bites are yummy but the box is a rip off, only like half full.

Wednesday.  Missed three calls in quick succession while the phone was in the bedroom while I was having breakfast.  Sigh.  Then a stoopidly busy day.

Apparently these are called scilla.  I had one plant of them last year.  This year I have like ten.

David came after work to install the new oven element.  Except.

The design is different.  It wasn't going to fit.  #grunt.  We all had a sad.

Watched The Orville 1.3.

Thursday.

Returned the element in the morning.  So back to square one.  Slightly more productive day.  Trivia night in the evening.  We came fourth.  Some of the rounds were "normal" and therefore fun.  But some of the rounds were just plain evil.  And badly done too.  Like there'd be five-part questions/answers with text so small you could barely read it.  Like this BS.

Trivia BS

How do you even mark that crap??  What if you get one out of order but the rest in order, do you get four out of five or none?  And they did badly acted readings, this time from tv shows, but they didn't learn a damned thing from the previous people that ran it, AND YOU COULDN'T HEAR A DAMNED THING.  Ridiculous.

Friday.  Hurty in the middle of the night.  Zombie day.  Back to cold weather which was nice.

I actually had a really nice day because hardly anyone bothered me all day so I could concentrate on some decommission works.

Did some weeding after work.  Before and after.

Went over to Ben and Sarah's for dinner which was lovely.

Saturday.  Productive morning, and did some food shopping.  Did RecipeTin Eat's mac and cheese for dinner, which was yummy but took two hours.  hrmmm.  It was too late and we were too tired to watch a movie so watched some Death in Paradise.

These cherry tree suckers are like a week or two old.  Sigh.
Weed crap

I guess they're pretty .. but still..

This cracked me up - a lineup of Teslas!  Two parked, and a third one just happened to come alone while I was taking a photo of them!

Sunday.  24th.  Somewhat better sleep.  Weeding, Lego inventorying and building, blogging, tax.  Man, financial crap is such a pain in the @$$.  You have to go into battle with every damned website and fight to get the information you need out of it.  I really hate the ones that don't let you right click to save-as (which is like all of them these days).  One site wouldn't let me download *anything* - you'd click on the link and nothing would happen.  Sigh.  Hate hate hate.  Roast pork for dinner which was yummy.

Then watched the last episode of season 5 of The Crown, which was actually the last episode aired so far.
