Sunday.  12th.  Reheated the last of the lamb and had it with a cauliflower bake, potato, brussels sprouts and garlic.

Lamb and veggies

Wednesday 2.3. Then Lilo & Stitch (the live action one from 2025). Lolz Tia Carrere as the social worker (she played Nani in the original). And Cobra Bubbles is split out into his CIA character. A lot of it is pretty similar to the original. And as live action remakes go this one was actually pretty decent. Certainly a lot better than The Lion King or Aladdin.

Monday.  Somewhat restless but slightly better sleep.  Achieved precisely nothing today. Too many interruptions and All The People wanting All The Things. Past half way through nuking.

Purple irises

Leftovers for dinner. Wednesday 2.4. Photo stuffs.

Tuesday.  More restless sleep. Another busy day of crap, although did manage to actually achieve a couple of things. Nuking session 9. Driving home and noticed all the fluff is out!! Too late to start studying?  Leftovers for dinner then Wednesday 2.5. Lots of photo stuff. Then tried to blog jigsaws but I kept making mistakes because it was getting late and I was tired and half watching Anti Chef videos which was distracting me.

Wednesday.  Restless sleep again (hot and sweaty every five minutes). The koels are back in town!!! They remind me of home.  Mowed the lawn when I got home from nuking (it was as tall as me (kidding .. but it was super tall)).  Then went out for petrol.  And KFC.  Whoops.  Wednesday 2.6.

Thursday.  Some turd dumped two empty rolls of fake grass on our nature strip overnight.  They're a few metres long and we have no idea what to do with them.  I fricken HATE people.

I hate people

Domino for dinner.  Whoops.  Wednesday 2.7.

Friday.

Paver weed strawberries

Fighting with the stoopid new proxies.  Trying to allow encrypted files from certain sites.  But can't get it to work.  So dumb.  Kievs for dinner then the finale of Wednesday season 2.

Kievs and fries

Then I watched the first half of The Green Mile (I'd seen a documentary on it earlier today or yesterday and was inspired).

Saturday.  Spent much of the morning doing housework and weeding.  This was not part of the plan.  Bit of photo stuff and hobbies.

Gladioli

Got some sausages from Chris's and did a creamy mushroom sauce with some cream and mushrooms that really needed using up.  And frozen veggies.  Which the sweetie didn't much care for haha.  Maybe he can cook dinner next time.

Sausages and creamy mushrooms

Then we watched Passengers, which we last saw on the Queen Mary 2 in 2017.

Sunday.  More nights of waking up hot and sweaty.  Woke up at 5:30 to a cacophony of birds.  A day of All The Things.  Not enough time.  Too many things to do.  Slide scanning took too long and then I had to cook dinner so no time for music.  This was not part of the plan.  On a lighter note, it smells like Christmas in here.

101 Places

I saw this in the Green Shed, sorry Vinnies, sorry Goodies Junction a while back and snapped a photo of it - 101 Places to See Before You Die.  From the font on it I thought it might be pretty old - like maybe 80s or 90s, but the Millau Viaduct is on there and it didn't open til 2004.

I went through the list recently (copied off here) and noted which ones I've actually been to/seen.  I also noted, for the ones I haven't, whether I want to see them, I'd be open to seeing them, or whether I don't really have an interest (or would be impossible with the current state of the world).

Not a bad effort :)

Sunday.  7th.  Leftover lamb refried with some brisket jelly, and some Brussels sprouts with bacon and some garlic cauliflower for dinner then DS9 6.23 (dumb Ferengi episode).

Lamb and veg

Monday.  1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. .. don't always feel that.

Took ages to get to sleep, then woke up early. Bits and pieces day. NEIL again end of last week and beginning of this week. Also looking into our rule reordering incident and gathering more data. Leftover lamb, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower for dinner. DS9 6.24 (much nicer episode). Europe photo labelling.

Tuesday.  1 Corinthians 11:6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. .. makes you wonder how much of the Bible's instructions are cultural.  Apparently I'm a disgrace at the moment.

Took a while to get to sleep, then awake from 4 for ages. Logged on to be NEIL briefly. Then off to get poisoned. Last round! Hurray!

Poison round 4

You're meant to ring the bell on the way out, but I feel like it's a bit premature, you should really do it after a week or two once you've had a chance to recover somewhat.

Ding

Quiet afternoon. Started a new blog. Went for a little walk (to encourage the guts to keep moving).

Nearby phone tower with a whole new head (and extra reinforcing to support all the extra weight)
New mobile phone tower head

New mobile phone tower head

Stu had a very emotional day, with a farewell afternoon tea then a long HR meeting. He may have required ice cream. Cooked dinner. It looked nice. It apparently tasted nice. I didn't eat much, but it still felt like I ate too much. Had some of said ice cream. DS9 6.25. Then finished labelling my Europe 2016 photos!

Beef and veggies

Wednesday.  Somewhat restless sleep and awake from 5:30. Put on 2.4kg overnight. All fluid.  Slow quiet day. Stomach more off today than usual on first day post poisoning. The sweetie had his last day of work today. He was pretty emotional again. So we had pizza and ice cream. As you do. Not that I had much. DS9 6.26, end of season six. And All. The. Rain. today!!!

Thursday.  September 11.  Remember always.  Slept reasonably well. Lost 2kg overnight. Even felt a little hungry. Not so great during the morning though. Low level nausea all day, but didn't want to take the anti-nausea pills cause I don't want all my guts to stop moving.. hmmm.. Did some doco at work and helped look at a mail problem with Neil. Leftovers for dinner, DS9 7.1. 19:36 is bed time right?

Friday.  1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  I remember Joe Wiltshire once theorising that the tone of this passage is not the lovey-dovey tone you get at weddings but more like a dressing down.

Woke up around 4 needing to pee but also hungry, go figure. Then at 6:30 was hungry again, actually wanting breakfast. Go figure. Off to TCH for nuking prep. Home at lunch time. Feeling like crap although did stay online at work for the afternoon and got a few bits and pieces done. Zombie evening. Kievs for dinner. Oddly even though I don't feel like eating I feel a bit better when I do. Been having mostly "soft" food though.  DS9 7.2 then lots of watching of Anti-Chef.

Kievs and fries

Saturday.  Felt like utter trash all day, especially in the morning. Pretty much just watched Anti-Chef all day.

Made this lazy-ass mac and cheese for lunch - half a cup of water, boil half a cup of small macaroni for five minutes, then add a dollop of cream and a handful of shredded cheese at the end and melt.  I got Stu to taste it (since I can't judge anything at the moment) and he said it was decent enough.

Lazy mac and cheese

The sweetie dragged me out for a walk in the late afternoon which was probably good for my guts.

Dumpling Inn for dinner (even though I didn't really feel like eating I still ended up eating too much, whoops).

Dumpling Inn delivery

DS9 7.3 then the last episode of Tokyo Trial.

Sunday.  Quiet day. Felt a little better. Did some photo stuff and some Dotz.

Daisies

Front door trash

Cherry tree flowers

Sunday.  17th.  Cooked up some creamy lemon and dill chicken with some curry powder cauliflower, brussels sprouts and bacon, and garlic for dinner. Yum yum.

Lemon chicken and veggies

DS9 6.3 then an early night.

Monday.  Slept okish. Spent much of the day working on a big rework of some rules so we can move some DCs from one environment to another. Cooked up some leftover beef with some cabbage, a shallot, garlic powder and all the beef juices. Nothing wrong with it, just not super spectacular, and the sweetie didn't go back for seconds heh.

Beef and cabbage

DS9 6.4 then finished labelling Reformation Tour photos (up to day 17). Oh I noticed after patching this week everything on my task bar is just a bit smaller. No complaints from me, hopefully it means I can fit more on it before open windows scroll out of sight.

Tuesday.  Romans 8:8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death.

Early cheers

Poisoning round three.  Except this time they couldn't find a vein.  Tried four times on my right arm before giving up and going into my hand on my left.  Not ideal but at least they got there in the end.

Poison round 3

So that all took a lot longer to get through.  Ended up going straight to my doctor's appointment afterwards instead of going home first.  Had a little lie down with the sweetie when we got home, then it was time to cook dinner (cauliflower and broccoli bake, zucchini and capsicum with a bit of leftover lamb).

Veggies

DS9 6.5 then bed.

Wednesday.  Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

Slept okish. Put on 1.7kg (mostly fluid I guess) overnight. Hurray. Nice quiet day, even made some Lego. Leftovers for dinner. DS9 6.6 which was pretty good.

Thursday.  Romans 9:15 For he says to Moses,
"I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."[f]

Okish sleep but not great. Back to work. Wanted to work on one thing. But All The People wanting All The Crap meant not getting anything done on it. After 16:30 to 18:00 had a good interrupted time on it though. Pizzas for dinner - one tomato, olive, spring onion and cheddar, and one pepperoni and blue cheese. Stu assures me they were good. I miss salt.

Pizzas

DS9 6.7. 20:00 is bed time right?

Recycling inspection

Friday.  Romans 10:13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."[f]

Okish sleep, awake for chunks. Continued on the DC migration work.

Wattle

Violets

Kievs and blue cheese cabbage bake for dinner (the sweetie ate most of it so must have been good!).

Kievs and blue cheese cabbage bake

DS9 6.8. Earlyish night.

Saturday.  Okish sleep maybe. Feeling blah most of the day. Made a couple of sets of Lego. Labelled some Europe photos. That was about it.

Violets

Rosemary and bee

Daffodil

Watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall in the afternoon cause didn't feel like anything much else, although did label Europe photos while doing that.  I hadn't noted seeing the movie in my blog, but it felt very familiar like maybe I had seen it.  Maybe it's just that cast, those movies are all the same (dumb).  The sweetie was feeling blah too, so we got Dumpling Inn (sadly they won't do duck pancakes for takeaway booo).

Shredded beef Peking style, Chinese broccoli, 3 cup wine chicken
Dumpling Inn

DS9 6.9 then the first episode of Tokyo Trial - William Webb! ha!

Sunday.  Okish sleep maybe. Feeling blah most of the day. Made a set of Lego. Labelled some Europe photos. That was about it.  Went out with the sweetie and waited around for him to do the shopping.  The other day I watched something on YouTube about McDonald's apple pies no longer being a thing in a lot of the world.  We still have them though!  Winning!

McDonald's Apple Pie

Sunday.  3rd.  It's going to be an eat the fridge and freezer week this week.  Starting with a cabbage bake (spiked with yellow curry paste) and some nice frozen fish fillets I got at Chris's a while back.  Then DS9 5.18.

Fish and cabbage bake

Monday.  Pretty distracted morning at work so didn't get much done.  Did a bit of cleaning planning in the afternoon.  Finished culling Europe 2016 photos for the blog!!  DS9 5.19.

Tuesday.  We changed the house battery mode to "save battery for power outages" yesterday so it didn't drain overnight, and instead kept the lights on (and my computer running) while sparkies a couple of houses down had the power off for their work for an hour or so.

Sparkies

Did some deleting which was nice, and some more networking stuff for Jim (that I missed last week cause I don't *do* layer 1/2 heh).  Also got a couple of scripts working which made me pretty happy.  Made up a potato bake for dinner to use up a bunch of things, then DS9 5.20.  Dumb episode.

Potato bake and fries

Wednesday.  Slept okish.  Tried to do an improvement on one of my scripts but it was too complicated and my perfectionism got in the way so ended up abandoning it for now.  Leftovers for dinner I think.  DS9 5.21.

Thursday.

Acts 26:22.. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen-- 23 that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles." .. spoken by Paul in Caesarea!!!  Been there!!

Awake stoopidly early.  Did some more decom planning.  Chris didn't have any pepperoni so I made olive and feta pizzas.  Stu tells me they were good.  I miss being able to to taste salt!!

Olive and feta pizzas

DS9 5.22 - somewhat interesting moral dilemma.  Then Europe photo labelling.

Friday.  Did some tidying of all the rules we've setup for the potential new load balancing solution.  May have had cheesy vegemite scrolls for lunch.

Cheesy vegemite scrolls

Then deleted a heap of stuff out of the old prod load balancing environment. Deleting crap on a Friday afternoon.. what could go wrong? ;)  Kievs and fries for dinner then DS9 5.23.

Kievs and fries

Saturday.  Woke up at like 4:30 or something #grunt.  House and hobbies kind of a day.  At one point I was trying to rename a folder in Windows Explorer and it just froze up.  I looked at Event Viewer and my heart sank when I saw a disk bad blocks error.  So now I have to figure out what I've done on my computer since my last good backup on Wednesday.  And wonder if I can trust that disk anymore.  So anyway, later on I was trying to find out what the hell disk was DR9.  OMFG.. rm9's comments.. THIS!!.. In the end used Winobj64.exe from Sysinternals to figure out it was actually a USB stick that I'd plugged in at the same time that had the error.  Phew!!!  I let the sweetie order a karaage chicken pizza for dinner.  Whoops.  Then we watched The Post.  I had literally no idea what it was about other than it stared Tom Hanks, and that I assumed it was about the Washington Post.  For some reason I also picked the music.  John Williams!  But definitely not in your face, quite subtle.  Stu wondered early on if it was about Daniel Ellsberg, which he was right about too.

Sunday.  Another house and hobbies day again.  Having a beer while I write this - first drink in over two weeks.  Sigh.

Sunday.  27th.  Made up a potato bake from some of the potato I'd sliced up for the club but ran out of space to use on the night.

Potato bake

DS9 5.12. Watched John Oliver's take on AI Slop. Early night.

Monday.  Happy birthday Dad! Got a bit of cleaning done and a bunch of networking stuff done for Jim. Leftovers for dinner then DS9 5.13. Europe photo culling, started Black Mirror 7.5 (but ran out of time to finish before bed).

Tuesday.

Acts 17: 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead. .. God raised Jesus from the dead and will return to judge the world.

Went to bed pretty early, but then woke up at 4 for at least an hour. Poisoning day 2.

Poison

Quiet afternoon mostly doing jigsaw and made a potato bake with the last of the potato leftover from the club, and also some tomatoes that were very old and needed using, and the last two mini capsicums.

Potato bake and veggies

Also finished Eulogy on Black Mirror. DS9 5.14. Earlyish night.

Wednesday.

Acts 19:4 Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus."

Got to sleep ok but awake from 4:30 for a while. Quiet day. Leftovers for dinner, DS9 5.15. Earlyish night.

Thursday.

Acts 20:24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace... Good news everyone!

Slept mostly ok. Bit of crap day, morning just disappeared, got to do some cleaning, but then sunk into a hole of trying to clean up a mess that's been festering for ages.

I've seen my birds once since last winter.  They still came to see me today.
Magpie

Pizzas for dinner. Made a nice potato, blue cheese and rosemary pizza. Well Stu said it was nice. I can't tell anymore, salty stuff doesn't taste salty.

Olive oil base with some herbs and garlic powder, bit of pizza cheese, some slices of potato bake, blue cheese, spring onion, rosemary and a bit more cheese.
Potato bake pizza

I'll have to make it again when my sense of taste comes back...
Potato bake pizza

DS9 5.16.

Far out I hate Apple. It's utter trash. I've missed a couple of calls from the mother type person this week.  She left messages that I played, and then I replied via SMS. But because Apple mixes up the home phone and mobile phone into the one thread, when I reply it disappears into the ether and she never gets my messages. So I've had to split out her contact into two so that the mobile is not related to the home phone. Why is Apple so bad??? Why why why???

Cranky and bloated. And the trashy dog abusing neighbour's dog is barking again. Those people should be banned from owning dogs.

Friday.  Slept okish. Mostly staring at a big mess all day. Found some stuff to delete late in the afternoon. Kievs for dinner. Black Mirror 7.6.

Kiev Fridays

Saturday.  Slept okish. Very quiet slo-mo day. I did get out after lunch to see my birds and try and stimulate the bowels. Started my next Diamond Dotz picture. Dumpling Inn delivery for dinner.

Dumpling Inn delivery

Then watched Return of the Jedi.

Sunday.  Slept okish. Another fairly quiet day although did get a few things done.  OMFG windows *and* chrome have remembered my blog image folder settings!!!

Sunday.  13th.  Cooked quite a nice roast beef and veggies for dinner. DS9 4.25 (end of season 4, and Nana Visitor is in fact pregnant (with Bashir's baby no less haha)).

Beef and veggies

Monday.

Acts 8:32 - He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
so he did not open his mouth - originally from Isaiah, Philip explains it to an Ethiopian eunuch.

Up half the night doing All The Poop.  Hurray.  Had a very slo-mo day.  After dinner and DS9 5.1 took my temperature and it was over 38. So off to hospital we go. Hurray.  Utterly utterly miserable experience.  Really don't know if I should have gone.  But I did get All The Antibiotics so there's that.

Tuesday.  Got home around 15:00.  The sweetie got a vomit pizza from Dominos (and a pepperoni).  DS9 5.2 then straight to bed.

Still not as good as the original.
Vomit pizza

Wednesday.  Slept from like 8pm til after 6:30. Winning. Quiet day of dev environment cleaning. Cooked up some leftover beef with cabbage, cauliflower rice, yellow curry paste, lime juice and sour cream then DS9 5.3 which was kinda fun but I still don't think Keiko would have been that happy about the situation.

Beef yellow curry

Thursday.  Finished the dev environment cleaning work I've been working on. The environment there is so *clean* now! Cooked some chicken pieces and veggies for dinner then DS9 5.4.

Thursday.  Not pizza!! *gasp*
Hot chicken pieces and veggies

Friday.  Did a big catchup on a backlog of decom work that's been piling up. Kievs and cauliflower for dinner (with some panko breadcrumbs and some parmesan cheese).

Kievs and cauliflower

DS9 5.5 then Trainwreck: Poop Cruise documentary on the Carnival Triumph fire. This one was apparently a lot more miserable for passengers than the Carnival Splendor fire that John Heald wrote about.

Saturday.  Slept ok. First day of feeling somewhat in control and with energy, and managed to get a fair bit done.

The last of the mini capsicums.  They were green when I picked them off the frost-bitten plant in June, and turned orange over a couple of weeks!
Orange mini capsicums

Finished off the beef with some cabbage, cauliflower rice, red curry paste and cream.

Beef red curry

Then we watched The Empire Strikes Back. Couldn't help myself but pick holes in it, some things I'd never really thought of before.

Sunday.  Slept mostly ok. Got out of the house this morning - went to the arboretum with Tony to try out the new lens. Pretty happy with it. I'm glad I got it. And a nice catchup with Tony too.  Pretty quiet day otherwise.  First beer in two weeks.  Wheeeeeee!

Sunday.  15th.  Kievs and brussels sprouts for dinner. Must be Friday. Wait, what?

Kievs

DS9 4.14. Another episode to be endured. Then LegoMasters 7.3. Yayyy Karen!!!! haha

Monday.  Slept mostly ok. Gave Mum a call before work for her birthday and heard more about her trip. Sigh. Did a few tickets at work but mostly scripting which was nice. Google AI helped with one problem but sent me on a wild goose chase with another and needed Nick to help me fix. Pizzas for dinner, must be Thursday. Wait, what?

Pizzas on a Monday

Andor 2.4 then Lego Masters 7.4.

Was impressed how well these things lasted - like a month!
Orange flowers

Tuesday.  Slept mostly okish.

Happy 3128!!  Whenever I see my clock/watch at around 13:52 I wish @Aquillaaudux a happy 1352.  So my step log at 3128 two days ago was pretty cool!
Happy 3128

Stoopidly busy day. All. The. Tickets. The last week or so has been quite pleasant, so this was quite a shock to the system.

Nissin miso ramen that I had for lunch.  Not miso-ey enough.  Next time I'll lump in some miso paste
Miso ramen

Cooked up some leftover pork with some veggies for dinner. Andor 2.5. People are calling this like the best show ever, but I'm all what the actual f#$& is going on all the way through it. I have no idea who's who (I struggle with names and faces at the best of times, but no one has names that mean anything to me, and some of the cast look fricken identical), who's on who's side (hurray for espionage stories), or what anyone is doing. And that end scene?? What??? Fricken hopeless. A real estate agent (I guess) came to Kit's place today. But instead of turning off the lights in the kitchen that have been on for two weeks straight, they turned MORE lights on and left them on too! What a retard.

Wednesday.  Slept ish-ish I think.

Baby fish!  Not sure who's babies they are.. either from the very unwell big female I took from the four foot a couple of weeks ago, or maybe one of the super young females I took from the two foot..  There's only like three babies though so who knows.

Not quite as crazy a busy day but still pretty busy. I tried multiple times to do some scripting, but whenever I started someone would interrupt me. Even after 17:00 when most people were offline, people came to talk to me in real life and I *still* didn't get any scripting done hmmmm. KFC for dinner. Whoops. Andor 2.6 (somewhat better episode, easier to follow), Lego Masters.

Thursday.  Slept mostly okish.

Sunrise clouds

Fairly busy day again.

Saw these guys at lunch attacking a new grass seed mat

Good drinks, heaps of people, and even a whole heap of pizzas (thanks Timmy!) so I had dinner before I even got home. Lego Masters .. awwwwwwwwwww so sad to see Owen and Gabby go. Someone must have come to Kit's place again today because most (not all) of the lights are off now.

Friday.  Okish sleep. Took an RDO. Got some things done in the morning. Went out before lunch to do a couple of things, but ended up being out for nearly four hours #grunt. There's a couple moving into Kit's today, including a dude with an actual truck. Leftover beef from the freezer for dinner. DS9 4.15,  urgh another tedious episode. Then The Bomb and the Cold War episode 7.

Saturday.  Ok sleep I think. Semi productive day. I asked the sweetie what he wanted for dinner and so he got Dumpling Inn haha. Had that while watching Jaws, on account of it being fifty years ago yesterday that it was first released in cinemas (in the US). Also because Stu has never actually seen it. !!

Sunday.  Slept okish. Less productive day today. Did get some photo culling done and some food shopping, but a lot of the day went on a horrible jigsaw.

Windoze Explorer has been continuing to drive me crazy.  This week it refuses to honour settings I've previously set like sorting and icon size.  I was trying to file email attachments and it would reset the settings to whatever it felt like EVERY SINGLE TIME I NAVIGATED AWAY.  Or it'll just randomly jump to the top of the window and I have scroll back down to find where I was working.  FFS windows is trash.  Tonight it actually remembered my blog photo directory by some miracle, although Chrome reset itself.  I hate windoze.

Blog

Saw this on Neil's a while back and thought it would be cool to do.  One of those old-fashioned "blog memes" that people used to do twenty years ago.  I stopped commenting on Neil's blog forever ago because when I tried to catch up with him when I was in York in 2010 he completely ignored me.  His blog went dead for years but my feed reader still had it and notified me a few years back of new posts.

Why did you start blogging in the first place?

Vic said I should.  I was doing unpaid work at CIA/Host1 at the time (well, helping out with windows hosting support and answering support mail in exchange for free internet and web hosting).  I'd heard of blogs by then (January 2003) but had never read or subscribed to any.  Vic probably wanted to spread the word of his ISP a bit, so I did it.  But it very quickly became a place I could brain dump and I only wish I'd started the thing sooner so I could have recorded my life better.  Not that the early years were much good at recording events.  Too many times when I've been sorting my photos I've wondered what I was doing the day I took them, only to find no useful record.  These days are much more betterer.

What platform are you using to manage your blog and why did you choose it?

Movable Type.  Been using it since day 1.  I started using it because it came as part of the cpanel setup Host1 had so it was easy to start with.  There was one big upgrade a few years in that changed the whole directory/post/file structure layout, and the one that started inserting images as assets, but otherwise it really hasn't changed much.  I'm still using the last free open source version before it started costing $500 USD .. PER YEAR..!!  WTF!??  I really do need to modernise, not the least of which is because it uses http not https and I still haven't figured out how to *fully* sslify it (eg, canonical links)

Have you blogged on other platforms before?

I did put a few entries up on blogger.com for some more private stuff, but it never really went anywhere.  Same with the "This Day in History" posts I was trying to do here.

How do you write your posts? For example, in a local editing tool, or in a panel/dashboard that's part of your blog?

I just use the Movable Type web interface.  And only ever from my computer, or laptop when travelling.  Phone is too hard.

When do you feel most inspired to write?

Back in the day I would blog nearly every day and sometimes more often.  Usually in the evenings.  For several years now I've only blogged on the weekends after I've downloaded and processed my photos for the week.  I definitely post a lot more photos than I did twenty years ago.  Really my blog now is a place for me to post photos.  With a little bit of filler about what I've been doing.  It's also a bit less cryptic.  Reading my old entries now I have no idea what I was talking about half the time.

Do you publish immediately after writing, or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?

I always publish immediately.  Usually on Sunday evenings.

What are you generally interested in writing about?

Nothing.  My blog's byline is "Boring Life Of a Geek" - BLOG for short.  My life is boring.  My photos are mostly of flowers and food.  I do like my travel blogs though.  There's even at least one holiday blog (USA 2000) that I wrote up from literally a paper notebook of notes I took during the trip.  And my USA 1983 blog was written entirely from my memories of the trip thirty years after the event!  When I was 9 years old!

Who are you writing for?

Myself. There's maybe like half a dozen readers that I know about, and maybe a few more I don't.  My mother and brother care most.  The sweetie might read things if they happen to show up in his feed reader.  Mostly I do it for the record of my own life.  And it's been quite useful for that.

What's your favourite post on your blog?

Don't have one.

Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, a move to another platform, or adding a new feature?

This thing really needs to move to something more modern.  One that bakes in https naturally.  But the idea of moving it is just too daunting.  Maybe if I retire and have more time to think about such things.

Who else do you want to tag?

Ha.  Who even does that anymore??  The only two active bloggers I know that might even still read my blog from time to time are Dave2 and kapgar.

Sunday.  27th.  Leftovers for dinner then Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I still don't like how they explain how he's the half blood prince in the movie. Not that the book was a whole lot better - it was just a line, but at least it had that line.

Monday.  28th.  Remembering Alan's first heart attack, Como Presbyterian Church reopening after the 1994 bushfires, and the Port Arthur Massacre. Slept okish - restless and thermoregulation issues. My computer crashed last night #grunt and it wasn't even for patching this time. Managed to lose another hair tie overnight. Like how does that even happen, I've only been in like three rooms since last night. While searching I did find one I lost a couple of months ago. Hurray. Busy day. The sweetie cooked creamy mushroom fake noodles which was quite nice. DS9 3.4. Looked more into ways to disable Optus while overseas, including setting a SIM PIN, and locking the phone to Optus manually (but that causes a battery hit apparently). Also realised that my iPhone 5 is really a brick now on Optus since they shut down 3G, which is why it won't connect anymore. Spent entirely too much time stressing over Optus being such a ripoff.

Tuesday.  Slept mostly ok I think. Busy day. Lunch with the sweetie. Bought some light tshirts (all my tshirts are dark, which is no good for Greece or Dubai in summer). Lots of rain FINALLY and even some thunderbolts and lightning. The sweetie cooked some nice mince for dinner (well I cooked the mince the other weekend, but he added nicely to it). DS9 3.5 then holiday planning.

The sweetie cooking mince

Wednesday.  Took forever to get to sleep - restless legs for ages. Tried to turn the heater on. But the control panel was dead. So Stu went to reboot it. The panel turned all the led things on. But then turned off. Then started flickering on and off. So he rebooted it again (leaving it off longer). It came up for a few seconds normally.. but then started flickering again. Sigh. So leaving it off for longer this time.

All on!
Heater LEDs

Did put a jumper on for third time this year. KFC for dinner, DS9 3.6, early night.

Thursday.  Took a while to get to sleep (cold!) but mostly slept ok. 12.7C in the study in the morning!! eep!! Achieved pretty much nothing all day. Super quiet drinks. Blue cheese pizzas for dinner. DS9 3.7. Early night.

Blue cheese pizzas

Friday.  Got to sleep ok, but then awake from like 1-4. Sigh. The heater worked briefly in the morning then died. Nice warm day though so the house wasn't too crazy. Stu rebooted the heater again and it worked for a few minutes then died again. Sigh. Emailed Travis about recommendations for a split system but he hasn't mailed me back. The sweetie cooked up a cauliflower bake and brussels sprouts with kievs for dinner.

Kievs and veggies

DS9 3.8 which was pretty silly. Then another episode of an anime series of some Japanese travel blogger. Continued frustration with the heater which might work for a minute or two then just die. Sigh. The house is cold. Sigh.

Saturday.  Awake from like 3 or 4 and never got back to sleep. Sigh.

Another ripe mini capsicum!!
Mini capsicums

Super busy day. Attacked the todo list (mostly) in the order it happened to be in FreeMind. Chong Co for dinner then Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I. Finished just in time to see Dutton's concession speech.

Sunday.  Slept somewhat better. More ploughing through the todo list. Moved ten young guppies to the tank downstairs which has been empty for a while and desperately needing new fish, and four to the four foot (it definitely needs a lot more guppies). Need to get a few new guppies with different genetics though.

I doubt I'll get to eat this tomato..

Remember how much I was complaining about windoze resetting the folder views every time I went to use them?  Well the last week or two it's been a lot better - my in tray folder of photos for blogging has maintained my view settings.  This makes me happy.  I guess enough other people complained about it.
