Wednesday I snapped this.

V

Thursday I watched Paddington.  Quite a sweet movie.  Very British heh.

Friday after MacGyver I watched Paddington 2.  If anything I think I enjoyed it more than the first one.

Saturday did a bit of housework in the morning, then mostly did Lego picking all day, getting through another seven sets.  Made some pizza subs out of some ancient hot dog bread rolls in the freezer that were pretty good.  Went to bring in the washing in the afternoon but it was all still wet - didn't help that the fog didn't clear until after lunch.  Got some chicken kievs for dinner (Chris hasn't been able to get Inghams ones for a while, but he was able to get some Steggels ones.  They're not as good as the Inghams ones but did the job).  Watched Diamonds are Forever in the evening.

Today had a lovely leisurely lie-in with the sweetie, getting through a heap of levels in Candy Crush (they did revert that "bug" from the other week).  Plodded through stuff on my todo list, along with Lego checking.  Then we got the devastating news about George.  Even Stumpy came out, which he rarely does in winter.

Stumpy

Made more pizza subs again for lunch so the sweetie could try them.

Pizza subs

Cooked up some potatoes and had some leftover pork for dinner and watched some Homeland and might have shed a few tears over George.

Tuesday I snapped this.  Just pointed my phone at the ground and snapped.  Autumn sure is pretty in Canberra.

Autumn snap shot

In the evening I managed to catch up with all of Monday's photo labelling as well as Tuesday's so that was a pretty good effort.

Wednesday evening I finished labelling St Maarten.  Three nights to do one day.  Five hundred photos.  hrmm.

In bed I usually play some Candy Crush til I run out of lives - usually about ten minutes worth, sometimes longer if the "bot" boosters get me on a roll.  But I reached a point at level 4602 where suddenly you couldn't restart the game to get a better starting board.  This is critical to game progression, even more so with boosters.  If you don't get the right combo of boosters to begin with they're actually often pretty useless.  And the single most effective start in most levels is a two colour-bomb combo.  So this change of game play destroyed my will to play it.  I'm still logging on every day to get the daily boosters, but if this change isn't reverted at the next update I probably won't play it anymore.

Thursday we watched the first episode of MacGyver that had Jack Dalton in it.  Love that guy haha.

Friday was the last day of May so the last of Rashay's $5 lunches.  I went back to the calamari which they can get right, I wasn't going to give them a third chance to fail on the steak.

Rashays $5 calamari

Friday evening we watched On Her Majesty's Secret Service.  They filmed a Christmas festival in Switzerland and there was Raclette!  And Gluhwein!  Sooo need to do Christmas in Switzerland one year.  I also totally need to go to Piz Gloria, which was the fictional name of the building, under construction at the time of the filming of the movie.  The film production contributed to the completion of the building, and they kept the name forevermore (there's even a James Bond exhibition there!)

Saturday morning I woke up at 5:44.  Gave up trying to get anymore sleep around 6:30 and got up.  Had a busy early morning getting all the housework done.  The rest of the day was just photo filing and Lego picking.  I might have used up the last of the puff pastry to cook more cheese and vegemite scrolls for lunch.

Cheese and vegemite scrolls

In the evening I didn't feel like cooking so the sweetie ordered Chong Co delivery.  Not too bad delivered.  Then we watched The Incredibles 2, which I last (and first) saw on the plane between Tokyo and Hong Kong at the end of last year.

Today was pretty much just Lego picking all day.  All weekend I managed just six sets.  Surprisingly a couple of them were actually complete, which has been super rare for this collection.

Alternative to beer or wine

We haven't been food shopping so dinner was a case of what could we find left to cook.  I went and got some cream and cooked bacon, garlic, onion and mushrooms with cream and cheese and pasta.  The sweetie went back for seconds so it must have been ok.

I think I had a bit too much salt this evening though.  Whoops.

Sunday night we chatted to Kit for a bit when she got home from the wedding.  I was all ready for bed but it meant a bit of a late night.  Not too late though.

Monday we had to move desks.  Our areas were already struggling to get enough seats, and instead of giving us more like the original plan, they took desks away.  So our group got split up but we are closer to comms so that's ok.  Just such a mess.  So much stress.  Then we had seven SEVEN people from other locations come during the week so it was a seating crisis.  I felt anxious about it all week.

Hot Air Balloon

Tuesday was another team lunch at Chompy's.  This time I had the Motley Crue hotdog.

Chompy's Motley Crue

Also got a big bunch of herbs off Cath!

Thursday picked up pizza and saw this!  Not really one big pizza though, just four regular sized ones in a big box.

Friday we went to Rashay's again.  This time I had the steak, because the others said they were pretty decent.  I asked for medium rare, and some of it was, but some was a bit overdone for my liking.  Still, I'm not complaining for $5!

This week I've been catching up on Lego Masters.  Have seen the first five episodes.  Some of the builds are amazing.  I wish they'd kick Kale off though, don't like him at all.

Friday had a drink with the Stus at the Waldorf, then went to dinner with the sweetie.  We were going to try Kimchi but there weren't going to be any seats for half an hour, so we went a couple of doors down to Tasting China instead.  Had a very nice (if somewhat expensive) meal.

Saturday morning I made a caramel slice, and then we went over to EffanC's for a late lunch.  Quite a pleasant afternoon.

In the evening we watched Thunderball.

Today was just a nice quiet day doing house stuff and a lot of photo sorting and filing (although not much on the holiday photos, did get day 9 of our last trip online though).  Cooked a tomato bake using some of Cath's basil.  Watched some tv and suddenly it's the end of the weekend :(

Tomato bake

Monday I went shoe shopping for Kit's wedding.  Needed to get the shoes before I ordered the dress to get the right heights.  Found a nice pair of silver shoes but they've got a bit of a heel which would hurt my feet so Kit said probably not best to use those.  I might keep them anyway as I can wear them for other things.  Got up to 4000 out of 10500 photos labelled from the last trip.  Also found out that Foursquare killed their RSS feed for my checkins back in March.  How the heck am I meant to get an offline backup of my history now?!?  Stu said I should try IFTTT to get it.  So I did.  About half a dozen clicks later I had IFTTT downloading each checkin to a Google docs spreadsheet.  So disturbingly easy and I didn't touch the keyboard in the whole process.

Tuesday I had another go at shoe shopping after Kit said she'd be happy if we all wore nice thongs.  I sent her pics of a few and saw one she liked so I bought a pair.  Only $15 w00t.  Stu was sick Tuesday and we might have had Kingsley's for dinner.  Whoops.  Made up a tomato sauce with a big bunch of Kit's tomatoes I defrosted on the weekend.

April fog

Thursday I went back to the shoe store and bought another two pairs of the thongs so all three bridesmaids will have the same shoes.

Friday a bunch of us went to Rashays for their $5 lunch special (just for the month of May).  Great value that's for sure!

But they are seriously trolling people with their serviettes!

In the evening we started on MacGyver season 2.

Kit had picked up keys during the day as she was up for Katie's sister's funeral (kid was only 12 :( ).  She got home after 1am.  We hadn't slept.  Yay.  I was just uncomfortable and restless.  Torture.  When Kit got home Stu poured us a small nightcap and we chatted to Kit for a while and helped her finish her Big Mac.  Even that didn't help much, and it was after 3am before I got to sleep :(  Woke up at 5am with a sore spine so struggled to get back to sleep.  So that was a fun night.  Not.

Saturday had a little bit of a sleep in.  Kit spent much of the day sleeping and doing uni work (pyjama day for the win!).  I did houseworky stuff and jigsaw.  In the evening I cooked a lasagna with the tomato sauce I made during the week and we watched a Netflix (Stan?) show on street food, this one on Singapore, and The Imitation Game.

Kit lasagna

This morning Kit and I had a long chat about wedding planning.  I even took notes haha.  Stu and I went out to for lunch and food shopping, and Kit went off to her friend Sophie's wedding.

Saigon Street Food chili beef

She came back for a couple of hours between the ceremony and the reception so we mostly just chatted.  And there may have been cheese.  Other than that I was sorting photos - filing photos into more logical directories.  Some work directories have 1000 or 1500 photos in them that need to be filed more logically.  And then I need to crowdsource labelling them.  Cooked a lamb roast for dinner and watched Death in Paradise.

So a fairly quiet weekend which was nice.  Achieved some stuff, although maybe not as much as I'd have liked, but it was generally quite relaxing.

So Monday.  Day four of our break.  But I didn't get anything much done around the house because I spent the morning getting organised to go to the club.  Made some cheese twists for lunch before heading out.  The previous owners of the van left a lot of kitchen stuff and tools behind which is great, but *all* the cupboards were full of stuff, with no free space to put any of our stuff.  Got a bit overwhelmed by it on Monday afternoon.  And it poured with rain.  A lot.  Had some leftovers we'd brought for dinner, and watched the start of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on tv, but went to bed before it finished.

Clouds over Bungendore

Dark clouds

Tuesday I spent pretty much the whole day cleaning out the cupboards and reorgansing everything so it fitted into the cupboards more logically, and left most of the big cupboard free for our stuff.  Did a couple of loads of washing up to wash stuff in the drawers and some of the cookware.  Felt a lot happier with things by the end.  Although still nowhere good to store food.  D&I fired up the fire in the oasis, so we had a beer with them which was nice.  Tried out the bbq.  It doesn't light with the lighter thingie, but runs ok if you light it.  Cooked some sausages for dinner and we had a nice bottle of 2011 shiraz I got in 2014.

Wednesday morning we came home.  Thanks to Tony though for taking our bins out - they'd been collected by the time we got home, and the recycling bin in particular would have been a disaster if we'd missed the pickup.  Cooked some pizza scrolls for lunch.  In the afternoon cleared/cleaned the middle shelf of the pantry and the two drawers under the oven.  Cooked honey mustard chicken for dinner, watched Homeland and From Russia With Love.

Didn't do much Thursday.  Did some photo filing in the morning, then headed over to Chrissie's for a bbq for lunch.  James was in town, first time I'd seen him in twenty five years, with Anita, and Susannah and Rob were there too.  So it was quite the family gathering for them.  And then they got out all the family photos that survived the bushfire (as an aside, Como Presbyterian Church reopened twenty three years ago on this day as I type this, same day as Port Arthur massacre.. moving on..).  David and Kat came over late in the afternoon and we had lamb roast and started a 2000 piece jigsaw.

Balls!

Friday Stu went to work.  David pulled apart our bedroom fan light which had died a couple of months ago.  We'd gotten a new bulb but it hadn't worked either.  Turns out the ballast had gone.  Someone let the smoke out.  This fan light had been installed in November 2008.  A "Brilliant" branded fan light we got from Bunnings.  Don't do that people.  We never could get a replacement light for it.  The last one we got was a much smaller T4 bulb because we couldn't find any the right size.  Pretty sure that was in April 2014.  So instead of trying to replace the ballast and not get a bulb that fitted anyway, we decided to get a similar sized LED oyster light and mount that instead.  It looks slightly odd, but works just fine and cheaper than a whole new fan light.  Most awesomest brother ever!

Bedroom fan light replaced

So that was done in the morning and we were like.. now what?  D/K went out for a wander round Canberra and I got stuck into cleaning out the "gardening" corner of the garage.  Too many spiders and other disgustingness for my liking.  D/K gave me a lift into town later where I met up with the sweetie for a drink and dinner for our anniversary (and they went off and did their own thing).  We went to Temporada and had quite a delicious, if very expensive, dinner.

Saturday and David couldn't help himself, he wanted to replace our ancient fluoro kitchen/family room light fittings with LED ones.  So a trip to Bunnings (where it was decided against getting the "Brilliant" branded ones, even though they looked nice because a) Bunnings staff couldn't/wouldn't get the panel of test lights turned on to look at them, and b) they're Brilliant branded, which we've already established seems to be non-standard anyway), and then a trip to Project Lighting.  Got some flat round lights that don't quite cover up the old holes, so we'll need to sand/bog/paint that at some point.

Old kitchen lights

New kitchen lights

We did one of the lights in the morning, then headed out to the club to show D/K the new van (and get out of Stu's way as he was trying to study).  Had a bbq out there (we really need a new gas cylinder), then came home again, and David replaced the other light.  Had pizza for dinner, watched Goldfinger, and finished the big jigsaw.  Pretty good effort for two days.

Sunday D/K went home and I spent the day coming to terms with the end of my holiday :(  Tidied up a lot of the house, did two loads of linen washing, got some holiday blog entries online, got some kiev balls from the shops and cooked those for dinner, watched Brooklyn 99 and Death in Paradise.

Ten days is not enough time off.  I really need those three month holiday I used to get when I was at uni... *sigh* ....

Monday we got home a bit late which left me a little stressed because I need to do All The Things on Mondays, in addition to a backup I was meant to run on the weekend but never did.  I thought it was going to talk all night because I'd done a heap of moving files around, which means robocopy would then have to delete/recopy everything.  But in the end I moved them around on the disk first so it was pretty quick.  I ran Spacemonger over the disk and it added up 1.3 million files in 51000 folders.  Freaky.  We also started watching Brooklyn 99.  Stu has actually seen it all through before but suggested watching it anyway.  Not a bad show.  A bit silly but a bit of fun.  But.  KEEP THE DAMNED CAMERA STILL!!  It's got the whole Modern Family can't-keep-the-damned-camera-still thing going on which I HATE.  It's even worse than Discovery's damned lens flare.

Must be mother's day soon..

Tuesday had the club committee meeting here so I half listened in while labelling photos (1/3 way through w00t!).  Also baked a Yum! Delicious! cake which all got eated.

Wednesday I was surprised to find an actual light meal at the Labor Club, so didn't end up stuffing myself silly.  Because for dinner we went to Dumpling Inn with Hannah to talk Harry Potter.

Thursday night I swear it actually got warmer as the evening progressed.  We made the most of one of the last mild evenings of the season.  At home, Stu ordered extra large pizzas for dinner hrmmm.  Then afterwards had a drink with Kit and Pete and played a game of Kismet (I won, w00t!).  The fact they are 130km away is irrelevant.

Friday we Marie Kondo-ed our clothes.  We actually pulled everything out and put it all out on the bed.  My pile was somewhat bigger than I thought it would be, but nowhere near as big as some of the piles we saw on the show.  Finished watching the Desolation of Smaug, then watched Thor Ragnarok which is a bit of fluff (reviewers either completely loved or completely hated it).  We'd seen Dr Strange so knew who he was, but not sure if there were other references we didn't get, on account of only seeing a few MCU films (it's creeping up - have seen Guardians of the Galaxy 1&2, Dr Strange, now this).

Saturday just bits and pieces.  Did a Bunnings run (no tubs in the size/style I wanted that weren't crap).  Spent some time Marie Kondo-ing the linen cupboard.  Finally sorted out the wine that's been making a mess under the house - consolidated boxes (down to about 7.5 boxes now) so it's all a bit more organised.  Watched the Battle of the Five Armies.  Just as dumb as I remembered it.

Today spent some time in the garage in the morning, but barely made a dent.  Made some cheese and vegemite scrolls for lunch which were pretty awesome.  Marie Kondo-ed three shelves in the pantry in the afternoon.  Roast chicken for dinner, Discovery (finishing up season 2), and Dr No, which I haven't seen in ages.

I need more of it.  Everything takes longer to do than it should, and there's just not enough hours in the day to get it all done.

Pretty standard week.  Busy in parts, not busy in others.  Fun and games with failed hardware, but did get dual nics working on the mail server in the new environment (well Connor did the hard bit, I fiddled with the server config).

Thursday the return of the vomit pizza!  Well not quite, but it does have a cheesy sauce base.

Vomit pizza redux

Also, as it turns out, I never posted a photo of the original vomit pizza.  This was taken in August 2017.  OMFG it looks disgusting but it was sooo good ;)

Friday came home a little early.  Started watching He's Just Not That Into You which was a bit of fluff, kinda reminded me of Love Actually where everyone is connected to everyone else.  When the sweetie got home we had leftovers and started watching The Desolation of Smaug.  Way too long a movie and we ditched it with still a little over an hour to go and went to bed.

Saturday morning catching up on house stuff.  Then headed out to the club.  Where we accidentally bought a new van.  Which is about five times the size of our last van (actually probably even bigger).

New van

New van

Then back home, and straight out again, to EffanC's for drinks and cheese on one of the last warm days of the season.  Had dinner of one of C's amazing salads.  So all very nice.  Except the drama.  Don't like drama.  Dropped in to see Annie and the kids and Daisy for a bit as well.

Saturday night/Sunday morning woke up around midnight and didn't get back to sleep til after 4am :(  So was a bit of a zombie today.  I thought I'd do a little Lego picking (finish picking the six sets I started this week) til maybe lunch time, then tackle the todo list.  Except I was still going strong on the picking by dinner time and I'd done like ZERO things on my todo list :(  Well other than finish watching He's Just Not That Into You.  And I did pull out some periwinkle and load the green bin.  Kit called just before dinner asking if I'd be a bridesmaid, which is very exciting (Audrey was going to find it too difficult, living in another country and all).  Roasted some potatoes and had those with leftover chicken and watched Discovery.

How do you stop windoze 10 just forcing a patching reboot whenever it damned well feels like it???  HATE Microsoft.  More time taken out of my evening trying to get back into everything it shut down.

Now just need to find some time to breathe....

Flamin

Tuesday Neil and I had dinner at Pho Hub.  I had flaming chicken with hoisin sauce.  And it really was flaming!  Neil had his usual.

Pho Hub

Pho Hub flaming chicken

Then we went and saw The Lego Movie 2.

Wednesday night was a trivia night.  We won.  Again.  The organisers could have done with a little more practise, or at least have someone like Doc vet it all to save arguments with the crowd hehe.  The first three rounds were pretty tough, but the second three rounds were somewhat easier.  We did well with our Joker (double points) round, but annoyingly, not all rounds were worth the same.  Some were out of 10, others up to 12.5.  hrmmmm.

Thursday a bunch of us went to Chompy's for lunch.  I had the Iron Mikee.

Chompy's Iron Mikee

In the evening we saw the episode of Fuller House where the kids go to the prom.  So then I watched the episode from 1993 where DJ and Steve go to their prom.  Silly really.

Friday Annie had her appendix out.  Must be contagious!  In the evening we watched The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.  After enjoying it at the movies because my expectations had been lowered, this time I felt a lot more like the reviewers that said it was way too long.  It's kinda tedious watching movies that are just massive cgi-fests.

Saturday morning was just house stuff.  At lunch we went out and got a new light for the bedroom fan light.  Had lunch at Yat Bun Tong, but couldn't face shopping at Coles in the mall so went off to Jamo to do food shopping.  When we finally got home it was pretty much time to make dinner.  The other week I'd made up a tomato sauce with a big batch of Kit's tomatoes.  So made a bechamel sauce and made up a big lasagna (from Lana's recipe).  It turned out quite well (looks a little overdone, prolly should have covered with foil for some of the cooking).

Kit lasagna

Kit lasagna

A little while later Kit and Pete came over.  They'd come up to see her brother and family before they went back to Germany, and came back to our place to stay the night.  They had some of the lasagna which seemed kind of appropriate, and we chatted and watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail and went to bed a whole lot later than I wanted to.  But I did manage to sleep in til 8am old time, 7am new time, so that was fine.

Spent way way way too long picking parts for five Lego sets today.  This whole process is going to take *forever* :(

Kit and Pete eventually went home.  Was feeling a little lost this arvo.  Cooked a nice roast dinner though, and we watched Fuller House (bringing us to the end of season 4) and Discovery.

Also, that light we bought:  didn't work.  So don't know if it's the light or the fitting or a seemingly non-existent starter.  Very upsetting.

One Month On

It was four weeks ago last night I had my appendix out.  Still doing all right.  Still random stabby pains all over my abdomen though.

Meanwhile.

Wednesday a week and a bit ago we met up with EffanC for dinner at Malaysian Chapter.  They have a new menu but didn't put any effort at all into its presentation, it's just bits of paper in dodgy old sheet protectors.

Malaysian Chapter satay chicken

Thursday was the usual pizza.

Friday the sweetie and I had sushi in town and watched the new Ghostbusters.  It's rated quite poorly on IMDB, but I thought it was a bit of nonsensical fun.  Kit and Pete came up for Kit's brother's wedding, so I gave them the keys during the day but we didn't see them at all Friday night.

Canberra Centre Jellyfish

Saturday Stu went off for a war game with Tom and Damien and I had a quiet morning. Kit and Pete surfaced well after lunch, possibly still over the limit, so I drove Kit to pick up her mum and took them to Kingston so Kit could try on wedding dresses.  In the evening Pete and Leisa were having a combined birthday thing at the Old Canberra Inn, so I drove them to that as well.  Kit still wasn't hungry so I suggested splitting a schnitty, as I don't like huge pub sized servings either.  Worked great, although Kit ate so little of it I ended up having most of it anyway hehe.  Inflicted them with our slide show.  Still too big, at 729 photos.  Still needs more culling.

Sunday Kit and Pete went home.  I just had a quiet day doing stuff.  Finished watching the Stepford Wives which I'd last seen in 2006 and started watching the day before.  Kerry and the kids dropped in around lunch.  They'd come down for a flying visit to see the balloons.  We did some food shopping, and watched Fuller House and Discovery in the evening.

Jake is getting tall

Monday I got up a bit early and went and saw the balloons.  Neil was operating the Square this year and not cooking.  Saw the beagle, mostly its butt.  Then came home.  Had a quiet but productive day.  Even pulled a whole heap of crap out of the spare room.  Including a huge pile to take to the Green Shed.  So can move in there again now, but still need to do a lot of organising.

Tuesday I bought some ten litre plastic boxes to store shoes that don't get used very often.  They stack nicely and are to replace cardboard shoeboxes that silverfish eat.  Trying to get rid of as much cardboard in the house as I can.  Had Turkish for dinner and watched Homeland.

Wednesday I got some more plastic tubs for shoes because I didn't have quite enough.  In the evening I prepped a big batch of steak/bacon/onion/garlic/mushrooms for the weekend.

Thursday was just MacGyver, but no pizza because we'd already had takeaway one night this week.

So there we are, all caught up.  Nothing particularly exciting in there.

Monday night I started feeling sick.  Just a cold.  But after having so much time off I felt bad about taking any more time off, so carried on.  Fortunately it wasn't a bad cold so that was good.  Only lasted a few days.

Pretty quiet week otherwise, just continuing tv watching of MacGyver, Fuller House, Discovery, and we started watching season 7 of Homeland.  I also started scanning the last two analogue photo albums of Mum's (there were two holiday albums squirrelled away), and started labelling my last holiday photos.

This weekend has also been really quiet.  I haven't left the house!  Just getting stuff done, filing photos, labelling photos, doing jigsaws, basically weekendy type stuff.  Last night we watched Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, which was a bit of fun, if a bit far fetched.

End of January

Starting Australia Day.

Saturday: All The Things!  I renamed and resized all six thousand odd photos from the Canon from the holiday.  Watched Julia sans Julie.  Had a lovely lunch with the sweetie at Chong Co.  Did our food shopping.  Geotagged a lot of the Canon photos.  Watched Fuller House and The Usual Suspects.

Sunday: Began processing iPhone photos from the holiday, dealing with random changes in time zones and the fact that APPLE SUX (still raging at Apple randomly changing the date fields on my files).  Had dinner at Chrissie's.  Had Over the Hedge on cause Zac wanted to watch it, but Chris and I chatted and didn't really watch the movie.

Monday:  Had a good nights sleep.  Continued iPhone photo processing.

Tuesday:  Backed up the computer (and all that work on the photos).  Salmon for dinner.

Wednesday:  Zombie day on account of epic insomnia on Tuesday night.  Couldn't get to sleep.  Maybe it was the salmon?  Not the first time I've had salmon then not be able to get to sleep.  Got up to resizing and geotagging the iPhone photos.

Thursday:  Had F over for pizza for dinner, and watched bits and pieces of Stephen Colbert.  Appreciated the cool change!  Couldn't get into my computer before I went to bed.  It was swapping hard and the login screen was unresponsive.  In the end I got impatient with it and rebooted it.  But in the process corrupted the inboxes in Eudora :(

Some TV

| | Comments (0)

So we watched all eight episodes of Marie Kondo's Tidying Up.  OMFG people have a lot of clothes!  It'd be interesting to see just how many clothes we have.  I feel like I don't have many clothes at all.  Be cool to see though.  But probably not until Stu's next uni break.

Saw the first episode of season 4 of Fuller House on 26/1, and the second episode tonight.

We've seen the first four episodes of season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery.  Still enjoying that.

And we've seen the first seven episodes of season 1 of MacGyver that I have on DVD.  It hasn't aged so well, although better than Knight Rider.

None of my own

Saturday morning was going through Doc's vetting of my trivia questions.  Most of the ones he questioned were from the first trivia night that I ran, which he didn't vet back in the day.  Mostly Neil and DC's questions haha.

Then we headed off to the club, where I forgot to put sunscreen on the top of my chest and got a bit burnt.  Didn't get any more work done on the trivia night.

Today was pretty much all just doing up the trivia night.

So I didn't get *anything* of my own done this weekend :(:(

Tonight somehow the sweetie convinced me to get pizza, and we watched Marie Kondo and the start of the new season of Discovery.  I miss Jason Isaacs! :)

Hot. Sweaty.

| | Comments (0)

Stoopidly humid day today, which meant the cooler didn't work all that well.  At least it felt that way.

I was super busy all day too.  My todo list was over a page long.  I did do most if it though which was good.

Said goodbye to Kit and Pete, although I'm still feeding George, Petal and Vicki at least until tomorrow heh.

Stu chopped a foot of my hair off today.  Quite freaky to say the least.

We pumped and siphoned all but about 10cm of water out of the pool today.

We finished season 5 of Rake tonight.  I have to say this season was just too .. silly ..  I mean I know the other seasons were silly too but this just seemed a bit over the top.

Last night we watched Anthony Bourdain in Cuba.

And Cars 3.  Which was a bit .. meh ..   I think I actually preferred Cars 2.

And because of the racing in both things I was like, we should watch Grease!  The sweetie didn't really want to, but he watched it in spite of himself haha :)

Death of Paradise

| | Comments (2)

So the last month or two we've been watching Death in Paradise, a British murder mystery set in the Caribbean.

But.

Spoilers.

We've gotten through two seasons of eight episodes each, and had just started watching season three on Sunday night.

Where they unceremoniously killed off the star of the show.

My favourite character.

Are you freakin kidding me?   Who does that???

I can't bear to watch any more right now.

Maybe next year.

Other than that..

Pretty quiet weekend.

Friday night we were going to go to Chong Co for dinner, but it was closed for renovations.  So went next door to Sushi Bay which was pretty decent.  Then saw Bohemian Rhapsody.

Saturday just the usual house work and All The Things.  Also went down to a seamstress to get a couple of dresses taken up.  Finished off some leftovers for dinner and watched Death in Paradise, before heading down to visit Kit who is back in town for the weekend.

Today I didn't do as much real work, just picking Lego to put into sets.  It's hard work because there's Lego everywhere but buried in bags in tubs so difficult to get at.  And the computer I'm using is my old computer which is pretty slow.  I've got five word docs open for five sets, and marking pieces off as I gather them, and noting which pieces are missing.  I've been at it for like a week and still haven't finished one pass through all the Lego.  And then I have to start all over again with the next batch.  It's going to take *forever*.

Where Were We?

Thursday night: epic insomnia.

Friday: Kit came home for the weekend.  We didn't think she was going to come back because she had to go to Sydney on Sunday night, but she did, so we went down and said hi after dinner.

Saturday:  All The Things.  Although not really all of them.  Got some stuff done but not huge amounts.  In the afternoon we headed out to the club for the evening.  The pool was warm enough so it was all quite pleasant.

Sunday:  More house stuff, food shopping, Rake and Death in Paradise.  Oh and we also went clothes shopping and it didn't end in tears!

Struggling to stay on top of everything.  So.  Busy.

Stop the world, I want to get off!!

Friday David and Kat came to stay which was nice.  We couldn't decide what to have for dinner, so went to the shop for inspiration.  While staring at the fridge some random came in so David asked "what's for dinner?", to which she said, pasta with chicken, cream, sundried tomatoes, and D&K were like "can we come to your place?" haha.  Did pick up some stuff and made creamy bacony porky pasta.  After dinner we finished the jigsaw I'd been working on for the week (all that was left was sky that took a third of the jigsaw).  And we put on Flying High because Kat needed to see it.  Except she wouldn't watch it.  Oh well.

Saturday morning we started a new jigsaw before they wandered off.  Didn't have a particularly efficient day.  Did some food shopping but that was about all.  Thought we'd have a nice quiet evening.  Watched Wall-E (because we don't have Ratatouille).  After the movie I tried to use David's G7X in stars mode, but I couldn't get it to focus.  I completely lost it.  My brother can get the most amazing photos out of that camera, but I can't even operate it in point and shoot mode.  Such a failure at life.  Which was sad because the sweetie had come out to sit with my while I was doing stuff, which was really nice, but I couldn't deal and went to bed.  And then woke up at about 1:45am and stayed awake for the next three or four hours.  Hurrah.

Sunday I was pretty much a zombie, so again, nothing got done.  Such a waste of a weekend.  I shoulda gone petanquing.

David and Kat came back in the afternoon, complete with broken ankle.  Kat had rolled it on uneven ground on Saturday night.  They got it treated at Goulburn Base Hospital on Sunday on the way back here.  We finished the jigsaw we started on Saturday and watched some Good Place and had roast pork for dinner, and I slept a whole lot better.

Monday evening I think I managed to achieve more in an hour than I did all weekend.  Silly really.

Tuesday evening was hurty, which was remedied with wine and pizza, and a drink with Kit and Pete, one of our last ever at their place.  Sad times.

Turned on the cooler tonight for the first time this season.  I think it's going to be a hot one....

Rake vs NEXTDC

So we were watching Rake the other night and the scene where the Americans with the girl's names had him on a factory floor and there's a NEXTDC out the window!!

While bits of this season are filmed in Canberra, most of it is still filmed in Sydney (Cleaver's neighbours have a jacaranda tree, and they don't grow here).  Secret City is much the same.  In fact at points I was getting the two mixed up haha.

Meanwhile, here's the NEXTDC at Macquarie Park on the right, and the Orix building on the left the episode was filmed in.
