Andrew birthday

Friday night we went out for dinner for Andrew's birthday.  Went to La Piazza in Erindale.  The food was decent enough (I had some really yummy lamb shanks and Stu had an impressive looking pizza) but the service was pretty abysmal.  Took forever for them to take our order and food was very slow coming as well.

Then we went back to their place for games and dessert.  We played a bit of Mario Kart while Nat baked a cake.  Then some Hungry Hungry Hippos (!) then some Big Boggle.  All were lots of fun.  Pity mum gave our Hungry Hungry Hippos away hehe (I think the one made thirty years ago was a lot better built).  And I'd never played 5x5 Boggle before - I thought it only came in 4x4!

Then we had cake while miss monster Suki looked on

Then we went off to download photos, and when we came out, Suki had eaten the icing off the half of the cake that was left - epic tragedy!  (and this was after Nat had to make a new cake after Suki had nibbled all the muffins she had made previously .. little monster of a cat hehe)

Tonight (after a fairly quiet day and a quick trip to the markets) we went over to Windy's for a bit of a birthday gathering.

They did a meat fondue which was pretty cool.  A pot of heated oil that you dip chunks of raw beef into to cook, then a few sauces to dip the meat into.  Was lots of fun and a bit chaotic, and the BIL asked if we were doing any swinging ;)

After dinner was much Singstar to be had :)
Including a variation I'd not heard of before - reverse Singstar - where you're not allowed to look at the screen!  Freaky!  Really only works with songs you know really well though. I had a go at You're The Voice, which I know all the words for, and did ok at it :)

Bit of a slow start to the day.  Played FunTrivia for a couple of hours.  Managed to get the highest points in my class for the day by playing a whole stack of easy quizzes.  Got that badge so don't have to try so hard now :)

Went shopping for Jake's birthday present, and later took it over to him.

Cool Transformer, although ridiculously complicated, much more so than they ever were in the eighties

For dinner we had whiting fillets, and Stu did some nice veggies.

Then we watched Mythbusters, Iron Chef, and V for Vendetta.  I had no idea what the movie was about other than Natalie Portman having her head shaved, so was quite riveted.. really really good.  With all the nonsense going on in Britain (and America) these days it seemed a little too close to one possible future..

Had a pretty relaxing day today.  A little too relaxing actually heh.  Didn't really get much done around the house.  Did have some yummy chippies for lunch and made a Yum, Delicious cake.

Tonight we met up with Nat and Andrew and went the all you can eat restaurant in Dickson (Dickson Family Food Court).  It wasn't too bad.. for an all you can eat :)
After dinner went back to their place and played a little Sngstar and some random old Gamecube game.. very.. random.. heh

And so endeth Stu's 100111st.

Had a great day yesterday.  Fiddly bits of work in the morning, then went to lunch - all you can eat Yum Cha for $16.80 (plus a dollar for a glass (corkage?)).  Wasn't too bad.  But did have a generous glass of champagne, followed by a generous glass of red.  So didn't really feel like doing much work in the arvo :)

Ditched work a bit after four, and met up with Nat, who was also waiting for Andrew, and then we made Stu join us.  Wandered around Civic, and had a slightly embarrassing ride on the merry-go-round :)

Went up to an arcade so we could play air hockey, but it was closed - doh!

So headed out to Bella Vista for dinner.  As per usual (when it's available), we got the Mount Majura Pinot Gris - delish!

I got a special - Pollo Saltimbocco - it was amazing!  Really delicious.

After dinner we went up to Rubee's for frozen custard, which I had trouble getting through, on account of being full from dinner and all :)

Then it was back to our place.  We watched Cars, then played some Wii Carnival (not enough Wiimotes for three of to play most things).  And then it was after midnight.  So all up an excellent day :)
Had a super fun night at Nat and Andrew's.  Stu helped Nat cook a stir fry, then we played Pictionary and then attempted to play Zombietown.  But it took us ages to figure out what we were meant to do and suddenly it was 11pm and the Stubie really needed to go to bed.  So didn't get to actually fight any zombies.. oh well.. :)

Thanks to everyone who sent birthday wishes today .. yes I am an old fart now at 35... :)
Celebrated with many drinks at work, and dinner (of rabbit) at Bella Vista and more drinks afterward.. :)

Update:
Was a little fizzled last night... heh..
I told CH quietly it was my birthday, and he mostly kept it a secret.. until I was about to leave, when he told PK, who promptly led all the guys to sing happy birthday to me!  It was somewhat embarrassing, but awfully sweet to hear all these slightly drunk guys singing for me :)

The dinner we had was quite nice, although I got a bit of a shock with the rabbit.  I don't think I've ever had rabbit before, so wasn't really sure what to expect.  I think I must have got some liver or kidney or something to start with, because it was very odd, and that very icky texture of offal.  But after that, the meat was white and stringy, kinda like chicken I guess :)
Welcome to my little piece of the Blogosphere!

I am a recent Canberra resident after having spent the first 34 years of my life in Sydney. I am married to my beautiful husband Stu, and we live with several computers and a lot of fish.
