On the go all day today pretty much. First up headed to Yarralumla to pick a couple of goldfish. Then went shopping on the way home. Then my parents came over for lunch on their way back through town. Then Annie and kids came over to pick up the fish.
Suddenly it was 2pm .. oops!
Spent a bit of time tidying up the house, then Tom came over and we had several beers while Stu cooked dinner (better than my stir-fries cause he's talented that way ;) ). Watched (well sort of watched cause we were mostly chatting) Prototype This and Iron Chef, then we settled down and watched Spiderman 2, which Stu and I had not seen before. It was pretty good as suggested by reviews, although a few very cringe-worthy moments (which got even worse in Spidey 3).
So it made for a very pleasant evening, although I do suspect Stu might regret his overindulgence in alcohol tomorrow ;)
Now to deal with crap at work.... hrm.....
Then took out the last batch of stuff from our storage unit (after lunch at Fortune Box). We've had the place for so long it feels kinda weird to let it go.
The afternoon was spent doing "housy" stuff.
Tonight we watched the second part of Tinman (with Iron Chef and Rockwiz in the middle - felt very hungry while Iron Chef was on so cooked up the last of the Christmas turkey with garlic and honey - so yummm and Rockwiz wasn't the same without Julia) over a few drinks.. But I swear it ended just too suddenly .. I was expecting Askedelia to take over the kingdom as a "good" queen and DG to go home to Kansas or wherever .. but it just stopped so suddenly - the stoopid voiceovers starting even before the credits music had started... :(
So I've had quite a lot of cointreau tonight on account of having sold out of all our cheap alcomohol... really must go have a yokult before bed......
Not sure where the Life on Mars reference came from, maybe a link to Ghost Whisperer or something.....
Prior to that I was at Dave's for a Christmas/house warming drinks/afternoon tea thing. I drank a little too much champagne .. oops..
Prior to that was tidying up the house/unpacking etc.
Yesterday was more of the same (unpacking and tidying that is). As well as lunch at Fortune Box and Melita over for afternoon tea.
I still haven't sorted out photos from the past couple of weeks, even though that was on the todo list for today too.
Thirsty..
Then after that everyone came back here for eating and drinking and being merry and it was all very fun, but I still can't find that door key which leads to alcohol crash and I just want to go to bed now and work sucks and I can't make things work and CH made some stuff work but I don't know if the rest of it is working and if it's not I'm going to be very depressed tomorrow because this was supposed to be working yesterday but I'm epic fail and it was so stressful getting home from work so late and then having to clean the house and then go shopping but I think I slept mostly ok certainly better than the night before last but I still don't want to go to work tomorrow and I'll have to copy logs and chase people and it's making me depressed just thinking about it and I'm rather thirsty and the place is a little bit of a mess from having lots of people over but not too much cause we used paper plates etc but even so it's messy and I think I might just go to bed soon...
Needless to say we are very excited :)
Went over after work and took a hundred or two photos of the place. Discovered you *can* actually see the tower from one of the rooms, but really only if the breeze is blowing a tree out of the way :)
The real estate agent gave us not just a bottle of champagne (Moët & Chandon baby!!) but a whole platter of yummy nibblies. We stuck the champagne in the freezer for half an hour and have been enjoying it immensely.
Poor JJ was much worse off than me... even though we prolly drank the same amount all up..
and I need to be up early for a big breakfast tomorrow... hrmmm....
I really have the bestest sweetie ever... :)
Trying to make pizzas after several glasses of wine.. not such a good idea.. ended up with a rather blistered hand from the edge of a hot pan burning me :(
Other than that... and, well, Stubie having a little too much wine and suffering the consequences badly.. we had a very lovely evening with Natto and Andrew .. attempted to watch Veronica Mars but got distracted.. then the Lion King but Stu had to, er, disappear .. and we never did get to Jurassic Park.. heh
my poor hand... and Stu's poor tummy.....
Sunday Stu arranged another breakfast out and about. Although this one at the slightly more civilised time of 9:30. Met up with Pauline and Brett at Satis (where yet again we were forced to perch on tiny stools while we waited for the others to arrive, but did manage to squeeze onto an (outdoor) table eventually). I swear that place needs to invest in some towels to dry up the back section which has been wet every time we've been there >:(
Had their "big" breakfast this time ($12.50).. rapidly running out of things on their menu to try...
Had a fairly quiet rest of the day before heading over to Potty's for cocktails and nibbles.
How many people do you think it takes to make pina coladas? Four apparently - three workers and one supervisor ;)
The end result was pretty cool though...
And the other ones they made were even nicer..
And Kerry had a nice selection of finger food too..
So it was all very pleasant.
We were planning on going out to dinner afterward, but Stu came down with a migraine, so we ended up just going home. Whereupon we ordered a pepperoni pizza on puff pastry... omigosh!! soooo good!! (we've had them before but had forgotten their evil goodness heh). Stu suffered on the Monday for it, but claimed it was totally worth it ;)
As an aside, on Saturday night we made home-made pizzas and opened another of our wedding present bottles of wine - this time a Pepperjack shiraz, which went surprisingly well with the pizzas.
Had a pretty crap day at work. Had too much to do, so naturally, didn't know where to start so nothing got done. Hate that.
I did, however, have a much better evening when I got home, getting a bunch of housework and stuff done.
Finally got around to photographing the cointreau bottles we have. The middle one we've had for a while. The little one was part of a wedding present from work. The big one we got duty free on the way home from our honeymoon. The two smaller ones are empty .. whoops.. :)
And this is what we had for dinner - propellors!
Balvenie - a bit smokey, had a bit of character to it
Glenmorangie - also a bit smokey, similar to the Balvenie
Bushmills malt - an Irish one, a bit heavier
Sullivan's Cove - an Australian one. Of course by the time I got to this one I was perhaps a little less qualified to pass judgement. From memory it was a lighter coloured one as well... tasted like scotch... :)
Did get a preview though of what's in store for our drinks on Thursday night... $550 worth of single malt whiskeys.. should be fun :) (and expensive!!)
And got around to laying out our wedding cards again
