January 8. Always a day I think about three things..
1.. David Bowie's birthday. Still sad he's not with us anymore..
2.. The 1994 Como bushfires..
3.. My blogiversary.. fourteen years old today!
Here's a couple of photos I scanned a couple of months ago. It's dad in front of our church as it was burning down in 1994, taken by one of the firies (about the only unit that actually made it to the scene - most were out at Bangor and weren't able to get back across the old Woronora bridge due to congestion). This photo appeared in the local newspaper in the week after the fires.

Another from the series..

We remembered the fire anniversary at Church this morning. 23 years ago. Our Church facilities are much better now, so it was a blessing in disguise at the time.

I'm still sad about Bowie, too. And the first anniversary of his death is in two days. Oy.
Happy blogiversary, BTW. 14 years is quite an accomplishment. This fall, I will hit 19 years of online journaling. 11 on the blog and eight in a static site that I transferred over to this blog a few years ago. So long. Weird.

Whoops. Meant 12 on the blog and seven on the static site.
