Deathly Hallows (Part 1)

Deathly Hallows So last Friday night we went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part 1) (found a single person to take the third seat so we could book them, thanks Dave).

Not bad.  Not hugely great, but decent.

What I did really like about it was that it was fairly faithful to the book.  The movies haven't been this faithful to the books since the first couple of movies.

Of course that meant it dragged on while they're wandering round the forest.  Which was a major complaint in the book.

No explanation offered as to how the Burrow was magically rebuilt since the last movie.  No pun intended ;)

The ridiculous "coincidence" scene was thankfully dropped (where they *just happen* to be around some people they know and get some useful information).

Six months or so to go...

Finally got to see the movie. Agree with you; not bad, not great. Seemed like the slow parts were too slow and the fast parts were so fast I couldn't always follow. One thing I didn't like was how inactive they were; they often just seemed to be waiting for something. At least in the book they were always discussing options and trying to figure things out. Didn't like Ginny's naked back and "zip me up" in a kid's movie, didn't like Harry/Hermione dance that made me laugh for the wrong reasons, didn't like how Ron didn't say "take me, not her" or scream Hermione's name when she was being tortured. But I did like how the told the story of the three brothers.

Also don't like how little of the book is left for the remaining movie, which indicates how much they are going to make up for the last movie.
