Two questions for Kölners

| | Comments (4)
1. Where in this place do you all go to the toilet???
I've so far seen *one* public toilet since we've been here - at the main station for 1.10 euro.  Where is everyone meant to go??  Yesterday one of the places we ate had a toilet, but this doesn't seem to be universal.  Most distressing!!

2.  Where do you expect tourists to do their laundry?
Presumably many hotels would have a laundry service, but ours doesn't.  By chance we found a waschsalon so have bookmarked this for when we're in other cities...

There is a public toilet to the left of the Cologne Cathedral :)

Otherwise the public toilets are often downstairs within the restaurant etc. You've really got to search for them, look for narrow often circular staircases.

As for washing clothes, handwash in the bidet or washbasin in the motel room. Roll your clothes into the provided towel then sit the bundle to squish the water out. TV stands and light fittings are an excellent place to hang wet washing. Smalls should be hung in the bathroom. Dry yourself with the provided hand-towel.

If you do pay for your clothes to be washed, check the prices! Some places charge you per item others per washing machine load. You are only away 4 weeks so you don't *really* need to pay for washing.

The info about the hotel laundry is good advise. I was in one hotel that charged per sock!! A pair of socks was therefore quite expensive. I travelled washing my smalls in the bath with my shower and they dried over night. Jeans had to wait for a few days stay in one place.

Which left? ;)
Found another one at the south end of Hohe Strasse, for 50c :) (didn't use that one, went at the chocolate museum :) )
Starbucks at the station has one with black lights ... mmmm glow in the dark urine! :)
We're staying at an apartment in Berlin, hopefully that'll have a washing machine....

Hey Kaz - congrats and all on the wedding...

I took the liberty of renewing your domain name, since I thought you might have been otherwise distracted :)
