I got on the Do Not Call in the states when it came out.
Prior to the DNC, one night, in the short amount of time it took me to get three small boys undressed and in a tub of water I had 4 calls from telemarketers. Each time I hung up the phone it rang again two seconds later.
I recently got home service again (I'd had only a cell for several years). The phone hadn't been on 24 hours before I'd received a call from a telemarketer.
I got on the DNC the next day.
Still, until it went into effect, I'd average getting three calls a night. That's after 6 p.m., when I got home from work, I don't know how many calls came in during the day.
I am a recent Canberra resident after having spent the first 34 years of my life in Sydney. I am married to my beautiful husband Stu, and we live with several computers and a lot of fish.
and we are so there. The ONLY people who ring the home phone are telemarketers and most are so RUDE. I never answer the home phone.

Things are so much better now.
