Dog's Mead

When my brother was in OC class, he got a puzzle called "Dog's Mead". I began work on it, but didn't actually solve it til years later, with the help of an excel spreadsheet at one point, and various simultaneous equations.

Found it in my pile of things to scan and toss.. but I think I'll hold onto this one for now, including the solution :)

got it.. needed to use spreadsheet too. David thinks the spreadsheet is cheating so he is trying to do it with paper and calc only.

I now have the biggest headache!! There is absolutely no way I could have done it without a spreadsheet.

From memory I only used a spreadsheet once - to find a whole number in some division or square root or something.. gosh that was a long time ago too. Really must have another go at it :)

Just found the print out on the printer, so I sat down for an hour and a half and did it.

Using only pen / paper / calculator.
