I'll never go to Indonesia
So Schapelle Corby was convicted of drug trafficking in Bali and sentenced to 20 years.
Maybe she did it, maybe she didn't. My gut feeling is that she didn't. Why would anyone smuggle drugs *into* Bali - it's surely worth more here than there?!? I feel it was a case of she was guilty until proven innocent, which of course was never going to happen.
One thing's for sure, I'll never go to Indonesia. Ever.
It's a shame too, because Bali is a truly wonderful place. :-(
May 28, 2005 1:07 AMAs you may have read, the prosecution is appealing as they think the sentence was too lenient -- they want life.
May 28, 2005 6:23 AMI'm with Kazz I will not go there. There are other very nice places around the world. Why go where you are guilty unless you are proven innocent or a male muslim cleric. Honestly. To plot to kill many people and cripple a town gets 6mths and a dodgy charge of grass gets 20 years. Its only marujana, Not HEROIN!
May 28, 2005 8:30 PMThe report I saw on ABC said that she was nervous when asked to open her surfboard bag for inspection by customs. People do all sorts of stupid things, and then cry about the punitive measures taken against them (if they are caught!) Years ago, I read about the punishments meted out to drug smugglers and drunk drivers in certain parts of what we call the Third World. Decided then that those countries didn't need my tourist dollars. Bleeding hearts should consider their actions before they are brought to the bar to account for them.
