Star Wars

Watched Episode I on telly tonight. It's alright to watch repeatedly if you don't worry too much about the fact that it has no story (a pod race and a completely CG battle). Good cinematography and great music, means you can have it on in the background without causing too much offence. They're doing eps IV/V/VI in the coming weeks, but the "special" edition version. I'm still protesting and won't be buying the "special edition" dvds cause they ruined it by changing and adding all the digital crap. I grew up on the original movies, and seeing them adulterated like that is just wrong. If they'd ever bring out dvds of the original version I'd buy those.

The horrible, horrible, unwatchable part of Episode One was the abysmal "acting" of a lead character... Jake Lloyd as "Annie." Given that George Lucas could have gotten any brilliant young actor in existence (and I've seen two-year olds with more natural talent), it's a travesty that we ended up with what we got.

And I think Lucas' complete error in judgment for the lead character rubbed off on otherwise excellent actors (such as Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson, and Ewan McGregor), causing a snowball effect of suckage.

And don't get me started on the asinine burp and fart jokes and, heaven help us, Jar Jar Binks. Ack. A bad film that's a slap in the face to any Star Wars fan.

Well Georgey has a habit of hiring crap actors.. just look at Mark Hamill .. heh
Although he does get it right sometimes.. Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Natalie Portman are tops.

Not holding out much expectations for Episode III. I have a feeling it'll be just as cheesy (I mean Anakin *building* C3P0? come on).
