To appreciate this picture you really need to stand back a bit, so up you get, stand back as far away from your computer as possible.
No really, you need to stretch your legs anyway :)
I spent several days thinking about this Theme Thursday entry without really knowing what I'd use.
Then on Monday night I got a bulk lot of lego off bricklink - hundreds and hundreds of 1x1 bricks of various colours, including dark brown and orange. My mission then became what should I make a mosaic out of.
Regular readers of my blog will know of my obsession both with Jason Isaacs and Lego, so I thought it might be appropriate to make a Lego mosaic of him. I found a nice picture of him (the one that I posted in my blog the other week), cropped it in close (I was only working with 48x48 pixels, which is not a lot to replicate a photo), and ran it through the Lugnet mosaic maker. That was it really. I took a screen dump, magnified it, and printed it out, then started clicking away feverishly. Disappointingly, I don't have any 1x1 dark grey bricks - they're in an order currently on its way from Germany. So my mosaic isn't quite complete. However, as the board itself is grey, when shadows fall on it from the other bricks, it gives a pretty good approximation. It did mean that I couldn't use a flash for the photo though.
So, may I present one of the most "beautiful things" to me at the moment - the face of Jason Isaacs, made of Lego.

Now THAT is a cool. How many hours total does something like that take to make?
kazza
eeek that was quick ! :)
Not really sure how many hours it took. I guess it took a while to get the photo and design right. The lugnet mosaic maker is a bit fiddly and you have to upload pictures to somewhere before you can use it.
In terms of actual clicking.. I dunno that either really, I was half watching tv as well. I guess it probably took 3 hours of clicking?
Something like that anyway :)

Since I apparently don't need to sleep anymore, I check in on your blog every 15 minutes to help pass the time. :-)

wow kudos on spending all of your time on this lego thing. its not like there could have been something better you cold have spent your time on. no not at all. what was i thinking? of course making lego mosaics at your age is better than, say, having a life. but of course u are right and i am wrong. once again, kudos to making that huge waste of your life.
