My angels are going to be parents!

On the eve of my boss' wife having a baby, it seems that my two black angels are going to be parents!! I'm so excited for them.

I noticed one of the angels chasing the siamensis, which *never* happens, so that made me wonder what they were up to. Then I saw them - a val leaf covered in little yellow eggs. This has to be one of the coolest things in the world. ;)

It's the two black ones that are the parents. I distinguish them from lines of white markings on them - one has a white line running along the top of the tail fin, and the other a white line running down the bottom of the anal fin. For this reason I've never really thought of anything better to call them than "Top" and "Bottom". It seems that Top is the female and Bottom is the male. Top is having some trouble it seems trying to lay the eggs on the piece of val she's chosen. I've seen a few eggs float away as she's missed altogether. But there are a stack of eggs on the leaf. I just hope the val holds out for the time needed, it's rather an old leaf and could float away at any point.

/me is very excited :)

Break open the champagne (or should that be RO water?)!!!
My Ancitrus catfish is tending some eggs at this very moment. But I know that unless I catch the little ones soon after they hatch and move them to another tank they will vanish!
Best of luck!!

Take the leaf out and put it in a safe tank, and start hatching some brine shrimp. You're going to need them--they're so small that that's all they can eat, and without them they just starve...
