Shattered

I'm the sort of person that takes *everything* personally, and way too seriously for my own good. While I can rationally see this as a flaw in my brain, it's somewhat difficult to overcome.

So when I read comments like this about myself..

And now Kazza is 'blogging' from the couch, yet fails to think of anything about which to write. Writing just for the sake of filling space in a database, and thus polluting the HTTP sphere even further, should be considered criminal. Heh... *poof* goes 99% of all weblogs :-)

..I am totally shattered. It's these sorts of comments that I take to heart and have the potential to plunge me into days or even weeks of depression.

Yes I know this blog is a waste of space on the internet (as far as I know only two people read it). Yes the majority of the hits to this blog are from lusers looking for stuff on kazaa. Yes most of the time I can't really think of anything particularly interesting to blog about.

The silliest part about it is that it wasn't even my idea to start this stoopid thing. And the person that got me started isn't blogging himself anymore.

But, dammit, why should I stop because of one person's opinions?

You shouldn't. If writing this gives some benefit to you then ignore whatever anyone else has to say. But if you yourself can't find any benefit or reason to keep writing...

I'm sorry you felt hurt :-(

Harley's just a big meanie... if anyone's polluting the HTTP sphere it's him! You should see search referrals he gets on perfectly reasonable topics on which he has zero useful content! He feeds his website like it's some sort of starving tamagotchi. :)

Anyway, I'm certain he didn't mean it personally... the fact that 99% of the web is of no use to the majority of web users is accepted fact, as I see it blogs exist mainly for the writers personal circle of friends and that's all that matters.

Thanks for your comments guys.

Actually half the fun of this blog is seeing what brings people to it. Aside from kazaa, people come to it based on the keywords that I've written about and it's always fascinating to see what people are interested in. The Canberra bushfires and the Waterfall train disaster brought quite a few visitors - I even got a comment from a survivor of the Waterfall disaster.

I primarily write this blog for me as a bit of fun - I've kept diaries on and off over the years and I'm trying out an electronic version and we'll see where it goes. Obviously an electronic one is more fun because other people from all over the world give feedback on it.

Ah, joke 'em if they can't take a f*ck. That's the point of these vanity websites, right? Post and publish what you want and who cares what anyone else thinks?
